      Job summary

      The Deputy Patient Safety Manager will provide support and operational leadership in patient safety and risk across the organisation by working closely with the Trust Patient Safety Manager and Patient Safety Specialists to promote, implement and maintain a safety culture.

      The post holder will support the Patient Safety Manager, Patient Safety Specialists and Occupational Safety Manager to enable all parts of the Trust to work within national guidance and regulation relating to safety and risk to achieve legislative compliance and develop and provide a safe environment for staff, patients and the public.

      Main duties of the job

      The main duties of the Post holder include:

      • Co-ordinate, undertake or advise on, and support learning responses for patient safety incidents and other complex investigations or reviews, where necessary, including working with external reviewers and act as an expert resource for patient safety incident investigations.
      • Ensure the key principle of all patient safety incident investigations remain built on a just safety culture and are system focused.
      • Support the development of systems and processes to effectively manage learning responses crossing multiple directorates and departments.

        To deputise for the Patient Safety Manager as required.

      • Educated to Master's level in a relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience.
      • GCSE Maths and English, grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)

      • Development of written briefings, reports, guidance and policy documents
      • Delivery of presentations, training and awareness sessions to a various audiences including senior managers
