      Job summary

      We are looking to recruit a band 6 Deputy sister/charge nurse to join the current team OTC @ Home Service. This will provide treatments to patients in their own home as well as working some shifts on the Osborne Treatment Centre (OTC) at the LRI.

      The successful candidate will be joining an established team with a record of excellence and innovative practices. The department provides outpatient treatment, triage assessment and follow up care for patients with Haematological and Oncological conditions.

      We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with clinical experience within haematology/oncology nursing. You will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills in Haematology/Oncology nursing care and have a passion for this specialty. Knowledge and skills in the safe administration of SACT, care of CVAD'S and other associated supportive treatments is essential.

      You will be expected to work as part of a team as well as autonomously. Also on call on a rota basis is required once competence in apheresis is obtained.

      Main duties of the job

      • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of evidence based nursing care to a group of patients.
      • Leadership and supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process.
      • Deputise and take charge of the given area regularly in the absence of the Sister / Charge Nurse who has 24hour accountability and responsibility.
      • Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
      • Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the ward team.

      Actively contribute to the improvement of services and the quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff
