- Experience of delivering nursing care to a group of patients Supervision of non registered staff and students Ability to manage the clinical area or ward efficiently and effectively. Ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, relative/carers and staff.
- Experience at band 5 for 2 years minimum
- Recent or current experience within the speciality
- Experience in Audits, datix and e-roster
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
- Recognition of own level of competence and limitations and able to communicate these to appropriate staff
- Demonstrate team working and ability to work within a team
- Ability to identify own learning needs
- Able to respond to problem situation and to ensure that effective interventions are put in place
- Demonstrate knowledge of current issues related to the NHS policies

Job summary
The post holder will have the ability to be flexible and organised in the workplace with a passion for nursing and will be able to demonstrate clear management and leadership skills.
The successful candidate will support the Band 7 Sister to lead a team of staff to provide a high quality service; ensuring excellent standards of patient care are delivered and maintained within the ward. You will be an effective role model, delivering regular clinical care. The provision of clinical and non-clinical governance is an essential part of the role.
We require an enthusiastic and conscientious team player with excellent communication skills who is well motivated and reliable. Previous experience/current experience as nurse in charge or leading a ward is desirable but not essential.
Main duties of the job
As part of the senior nurse team you will provide support to all team members and lead by example by working clinically to ensure we provide a high quality, progressive and effective service for all person.
This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills and experience of the band 6 role.
