      Are you looking to advance your career and make a significant impact in the heavy machinery industry? Caterpillar is seeking a Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work on the largest mining trucks, pioneering new technologies that shape the future of our industry.

      As a Design Engineer, you will innovate and implement cutting-edge technologies in the design and manufacturing of mining trucks. You will witness the transformation of your designs from concept to production. Leading major projects such as electric drive trucks and autonomous attachments for mining trucks, you will collaborate with experts in electrification, autonomous vehicles, and new energy technologies to integrate components seamlessly.

      What you will do:

      Create design concepts, engineering drawings and detailed designs that meet schedule, cost, and quality goals.

      Collaborate with other design engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing planners.

      Conduct design reviews on electrical design work.

      Conduct fit-up and testing at test sites and facilities.

      Direct and ensure quality work of assisting engineers when applicable.

      Support installation of designs at factory and field when required.

      Collaborate with engineers of varying experience levels to review and mentor their work, and work with global team members.

      Degree Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.

      What skills you will have:

      Technical Excellence: Experience in design engineering, preferably Creo or Pro-E. Experience in the design of electrical harnesses/cables or hydraulic routing will set you apart.

      Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
      Effective Communications: Strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience directing and reviewing work of other engineers is highly desired. Ability to work with team members in remote facility locations.

      Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
      Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
      Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design..
      Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

      Additional Information:

      This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Tucson, AZ, or Decatur, IL office.

      Relocation assistance is available.

      This position may require up to 10 % travel.

      Summary Pay Range:

      $95,640.00 - $143,520.00

      Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
