      Job Description

      Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

      The Role

      The Design Release Engineer - Park Systems is responsible for definition, execution and evaluation of designs, analysis, development, testing and control of major engineering projects where a substantial amount of initiative and creativity are involved. Broad scope of responsibilities includes components and systems. You will be responsible for working cohesively with a group of engineers responsible for similar products on other applications, actively engaging in team issue resolution and supplier leveraging as well as managing very broad or numerous projects with high degree of difficulty.


      What You'll Do

      • Leads overall communication, coordination, and consultation with engineering departments and customers for responsible components
      • Establishes designs to meet program performance and timing requirements
      • Balances requirements across systems
      • Analyzes design through design failure modes effects analysis (DFMEA)
      • Plans and implements complex test and/or development programs
      • Demonstrates that designs meet requirements through analysis, development and validation processes
      • Represents business unit in vendor and/or customer contacts
      • Releases final designs for manufacturing or purchase as appropriate
      • Conducts incident analysis and ensures problem resolution
      • Implements engineering changes
      • Initiates and evaluates cost studies, product suggestions and value analyses
      • Defines hardware and budget requirements for experimental build programs
      • Ensures designs meet serviceability requirements
      • Actively participates in product management team
      • Leads product development team(s)
      • Supports supplier quality assurance process
      • Support warranty issue resolution
      • Support technical specialist in establishing component/system requirements
      • Participates in work groups with interactive/interfacing hardware/software teams as required
      • Travels as required

      Additional Job Description

      Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

      • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
      • 2+ years of engineering experience
      • Specific knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, metallurgy and manufacturing methods engineering
      • Understanding of engineering theory/principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
      • Familiarity with production processes such as foundry, forging, pressed metal and machine tool activities
      • Familiarity working with vehicle integration issues
      • Familiarity working with suppliers
      • Ability to multi-task
      • Highly developed oral and written communications skills

      What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

      • MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
      • 5+ years related experience
      • Transmission/ electric drive unit park system experience

      • Background in automotive system hardware engineering (development and/or release)
      • Thorough knowledge of design development and test engineering, Manufacturing and assembly operations, engineering processes and procedures
      • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with and motivate others
      • Very high level of analytical problem-solving skills where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
