- Work with customers and identify opportunities to support their strategy and improve their processes across functions.
- Ensure smooth operation of trading floor systems by providing uninterrupted operation of trading systems, including hardware, software, and network.
- Keep a close eye on the day-to-day operation by monitoring volumes and workload.
- Monitor and maintain the performance and availability of trading floor systems, performing regular maintenance tasks such as software updates, system backups and security patches.
- Delegate and execute quality checks on work produced by a broader team and ensure the team is adhering to departmental procedures.
- Assists in installing, configuring, and testing trading software and hardware components, working closely with IT teams to ensure successful technology implementation.
- Work with key third party vendors that support the critical technology that our trading systems, run on, and ensure they provide the maximum level of service.
- Collaborate with cross-divisional IT teams on departmental and enterprise initiatives.
- Consult with project partners to guide and advise on testing, support needs, future state, impact, etc. (i.e., Outlook migration, BYOD, new technology, MacOS support, etc.).
- Participate in projects which ensure the trade floor is operating at peak efficiency (e.g., trade floor redesign, walk up desk service enhancements, updating onboarding and training guides, etc.)
- Identify and implement technical process improvements related to automation resulting in efficient operations and utilisation. (e.g. build process / SCCM efficiency, automated software installs, dashboards, operational metrics, Mac support process implementation).
- Work in collaboration with global teams in Australia & the US to ensure global consistency, with allowances for regional variations where it makes sense to do so.
- Create and maintain knowledge base articles and procedures for IT teams and as well as create & maintain “self-help” documentation for business users (enterprise wide).
- An undergraduate degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Extensive experience with desktop support experience.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Expert level knowledge of the following desktop support practices and concepts: Microsoft Office 365, Operating Systems and Products for Microsoft, Apple, and Mobile devices.
- Knowledge of Market Data Services especially Bloomberg.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Active directory administration.
- Experience in providing support for all hardware including laptops, PC printers, dealer boards, cisco video conferencing and monitors.
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.

The Role
As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will provide expert level support, quick resolution, and superb customer service for IT issues affecting Trading Floor & supporting functions. A key part of the role involves providing support and technical project implementation and the role sits within the Infrastructure End User Computing team. The Desktop Support Engineer will consult with clients to evaluate needs and provide recommendations around software, hardware, and appropriate device configurations.
