      About the position
      Trusted and responsive, Information Technology Services (ITS) leads the Bank of Canada’s technology product, design, and service strategy. The ITS department’s Corporate Administration Portfolio provides the applications, software, hardware, and technical support to the business functions of the Bank’s Corporate Administration Departments.

      As a Developer, you work within the Microsoft Applications team to support Microsoft Cloud Power Platform software applications and their integration. Reporting to the Program Manager, you join a diverse team with lots of opportunity to learn and develop your skills, be mentored, and grow your career!

      What you will do

      This is a hands-on software development and support role based out of our Ottawa Office adhering to our Hybrid model (more details below).

      You will collaborate with vendors, clients and colleagues and apply application life cycle management principles and/or software development lifecycle methodologies, as well as identify user requirements, assess available technologies, and recommend best solutions to meet clients’ needs.

      More specifically, you will:

      • Contribute to the development and support Microsoft Power Platform solutions at the Bank
      • Analyze, design, and implement enhancements to meet business requirements
      • Maintain collaborative relationships with internal clients and external counterparts
      • Perform technical and root-cause analysis on issues and make recommendations for correction
      • Provide second and third-line support, including evening and weekend work as required
      • Analyze diagnostic information about uncommon cross-functional problems and provide recommendations for resolution to more senior colleagues or management
      • Create working procedures and documentation on solutions and populate knowledge databases, testing plans and results
      • Look for new ways of doing or providing services to our clients; changing or reconfiguring approaches to improve efficiency and capacity
      • Ensure compliance with audit requirements during the support and maintenance of applications
      • Lead junior developers and resources on all solutions and design

      What you need to succeed
      You are collaborative, quality focused, and believe in unit testing while making code easily “debuggable” in production. In addition, you are client focussed and will provide top quality service in the areas of support, enhancements, and innovation for the applications you will support for the business.

      In addition, you have:

      • Experience in supporting Microsoft Power Platform (Apps, Automate, BI, Virtual Agents) and MS Azure
      • Experience with writing clean, maintainable scripts and services (like PowerShell)
      • Hands-on software development in a JavaScript environment
      • Experience in writing / working with APIs and associated technologies
      • Experience working with Agile and DevOps methodologies

      Nice to have

      • Interest in learning about AI/ML and RPA and how it can improve our data ingestion, quality and dissemination functions
      • Relevant Microsoft Cloud Certifications
      • Experience with Databases: Oracle/SQL

      Your education and experience
      Your combined education and work experience demonstrate that you have the proficiencies and skills for the role. We are ideally seeking candidates with a relevant degree/diploma and 4+ years of relevant experience.

      • Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Secret

      • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $83,500 to $98,235 (job grade 16)
