- You can comfortably work with people at all levels of business and have a qualification and experience in Transport Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, or Development Engineering, but we will also consider people from other backgrounds with relevant skills and experience particularly those with well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills.
- The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats, with the ability to articulate issues of concerns/conflict from TfNSW's perspective to internal and external stakeholders. Analytical and critical thinking is key for the role. You need to have the ability to review multiple development applications, in a time critical environment and assess their transport impacts – this requires high level problem-solving, creativity and attention to detail.
- Self-motivation skills to engage, support and collaborate with consent authorities, developers and other stakeholders to achieve good planning outcomes.In this role, you can expect to operate with a high degree of autonomy while reporting to a Team Leader and working as a supportive team member. You will need to hold a NSW driving licence with the capacity to travel across the region when required.

In this role, you'll:
NSW is currently experiencing rapid growth in renewable energy developments, encompassing Wind and Solar Farms, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Hydrogen, hydropower generators and associated energy infrastructure, for which West Region co-ordinates responses for projects across the entire state outside of Sydney. The position is located in Regional NSW where you will be based at one of TfNSW's offices at a number of locations across the State.
The Development Assessment Officer (Renewables) position is responsible for coordinating and preparing Transport for NSW (TfNSW) responses to planning authorities and private developers for renewable energy projects across the State in accordance with relevant legislation, statutory time frames, policy and guidelines. The role involves collaborating and negotiating with government authorities, communities and developers to ensure renewable proposals have assessed and addressed current and future transport needs to provide for a safe and efficient road network, while simultaneously ensuring consistency across the State and contributing to TfNSW’s broader land use planning and development objectives.
This position will report to the Team Leader (Renewables) who is responsible for coordinating TfNSW submissions to developers, consent authorities and other stakeholders involved in the planning process for renewable projects (SSD and SSI projects).

About you
This position is based in regional NSW, we have offices at several locations and encourage people regionally based in the Western Region of NSW to apply as we have flexible hybrid working arrangements available. The salary for this position is Transport Grade 7 ($108,770-$121,822) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
