      About Lambeth Council Technology

      We need an ambitious technical and ambitious person to join us a Device Management Team Leader in our Technology Service at Lambeth Council.

      About the Role:

      We need an experienced Device Management Team Leader to join our team in Brixton.

      You will join a team of 3 team leaders who ensure that our service operations are delivered to the delight of our internal customers. Leading a team of 5 engineers, your people management skills will be the key to your success. We want a high performing team to excel in service delivery.

      Day to day
      Accountable for developing and managing a team of up to 5 engineers to meet required Service and Operational Levels, and device performance requirements, that enable business operations to continue successfully.

      1. Maintain market knowledge and Vendor Technology Roadmaps to support alignment between device, applications and infrastructure requirements ensuring an efficient technical operation and mitigating any risk of unplanned costs whilst exploiting new and innovative technology development.
      2. Responsible for ensuring the directly managed team resolve reported Incidents, Major Incidents and Problems to meet agreed service levels ensuring business operations continue with minimum disruption.
      3. Responsible for the configuration and management of device operating systems and operational tool sets to proactively monitor all devices, to manage risk, prevent technical failures, security breaches and support capacity management issues, ensuring minimum disruption to business operations.
      4. Responsible for leading the design, build, implementation and routine maintenance of end user devices and packaging of applications to enable secure access to, and operation of applications and services needed to ensure successful business operations.
      5. Responsible for raising requests for change as needed and managing the implementation of approved changes to maintain a current and secure technical environment aligned to business requirements and providing technical expertise and guidance to the Change Advisory Board.
      6. Responsible for the Administration of Active Directory and the setting and maintenance of Policies necessary to ensure that user access to services and applications is managed on a least privileged basis and aligned to the joiners, movers, leavers process to maintain a secure and safe operating environment.
      7. The post holder should be prepared to work outside of normal hours, including attending evening meetings, and occasional weekend working.
      8. Responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of policies regarding end user device usage and life-cycle management and for monitoring the application of such policies to maintain a controlled operating environment.
      9. Responsible supporting the provision of advice and guidance to Senior Management and Elected Members regarding the employment of devices and associated applications to increase productivity and support business efficiency.
      10. Responsible for managing and mitigating the risk of device-based business applications failure which would limit the Council ability to deliver services and have serious consequences regarding citizen wellbeing, unplanned financial expenditure, and reputational damage.
      11. Accountable for the financial management of a budget of up to £2 million, including staffing and critical business application services, ensuring that forecasts are accurate, variations are clearly explained with supporting evidence.
      12. Responsible for agreeing and working to achieve a personal development plan with the line manager and for demonstrating a continuous approach to personal professional development.
      13. Responsible for setting, agreeing, and monitoring personal development plans with team members, encouraging a culture of collaborative working and for advising and supervising their continuous professional development.
      14. To work flexibly in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of this job and participate as required in multi-disciplinary cross-department and cross- organisational groups and task teams
      15. To take responsibility, relevant to the post, for ensuring that Council statutes and government legislation is upheld. This includes, amongst others, Management Compliance Charter, Environmental Policy, Data Protection Act, Race Equality Action Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Health & Safety, Sustainable Construction and Recycling
      16. To take responsibility, appropriate to the post for tackling racism and promoting good race, ethnic and community relations.

      To be considered for interview, your CV and supporting statement will clearly evidence:

      • An experienced device management technician with supervisory or management experience within IT or the public sector.
      • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to assist in influencing, persuading, and negotiating with stakeholders.
      • Good written, verbal communication and presentation skills
      • Good customer service skills
      • Significant experience in a Senior Engineering role within a large complex organization.
      • Significant experience of working within effective teams delivering platform and infrastructure services to a complex business
      • Significant experience creating standardization, simplification, sharing and reuse of process and information
      • Educated to A level or equivalent Accredited in either MS 365 Fundamentals or MS 365 Modern Desktop Administration

      • Demonstrating you have researched and understand the priorities of Lambeth Council.
      • Showing an awareness of ITIL
