The NSW Health Pathology DevOps team have build a reputation for innovative and impactful digital products and solutions built on contemporary cloud technologies. With over 30 people in the team, you’ll have access to a great group of mentors and thought leaders across the Microsoft, AWS and MuleSoft technology stacks who, in combination with a rich set of premium online content and strong relationships with our technology partners, will work with you to rapidly build your skillset to the next level.
      In your new role as a DevOps Engineer, you will work in, and at times lead, cross functional teams to ideate, design, develop, test, deploy and deliver cutting edge digital pathology solutions to the public and private health systems and the people of NSW. This role will also have the opportunity to engage and lead vendor contracts from time to time.

      What you'll be doing

      To collaborate with clinicians, scientists and business professionals to drive the sustainable and innovative application of new technologies in order to improve people’s health outcomes.

      1. Demonstrated experience working across a range of web, server, database, mobile and integration languages and technologies, preferably Angular, MuleSoft, .Net, NodeJS, Java and the Microsoft Power Platform
      2. Previous experience working in a team environment across varying geographical locations operating continuous integration platforms and techniques including test, build and deployment automation
      3. Ability to work within or lead a vendor or contractor based team and drive effort towards achieving business outcomes and alignment with NSW Health Pathology reference architectures
      4. Experience working with activities such as or similar to; - Deploying cloud products and vendors such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services - Infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform - Low Code and robotic process automation technologies such as Automation Anywhere, the Microsoft Power Platform and document infrastructure like Adobe Sign and Document Core Pack - Log management and analysis systems such as Elasticsearch and Spunk - Database platforms such as SQL Server, MongoDb, Cosmos DB, DynamoDB.
      5. Demonstrated experience operating business analytics tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
      6. Demonstrated ability to craft and tune complex SQL and query statements.
      7. Ability to be on call out of hours if issues under DevOps team are identified and require urgent resolution.
      8. Experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools and frameworks such as Microsoft AppInsights or Amazon X-Ray.

      Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases

      All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.


      Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

      Working Rights

      This position is a permanent position. To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency. Please note: A person who is not an Australian citizen or a permanent resident is only eligible for temporary employment for a period not longer than the duration of their current visa.
