      Hours:

      Rotating shifts every other week, 6am - 2:30pm and 11am - 7:30pm; this does include Saturday and Sunday as well.

      General Purpose of Job:

      To perform a variety of patient food service by preparing patient trays and nourishment.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
      • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
      • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
      • Prepares special foods for regular and therapeutic diets as required by following individual patient menus.
      • Prepares nourishment for patients as designated on nourishment sheet.
      • Assembles prepared food on patient trays during trayline mealtimes
      • Ensures all food items for meals and nourishments are prepared according to menu and delivered at appropriate times.
      • Delivers carts to patient floors as specified.
      • Prepares all “early” and “late” trays as required.
      • Takes inventory of all nourishment food items kept in Nourishment Kitchens on each patient floor.
      • Cleans refrigerators in Diet Kitchen on a daily basis, removing out-dated items and items not needed for the day’s menu.
      • Replenishes beverages and foods needed on trayline.
      • Performs special cleaning duties as scheduled.
      • Attends all department and hospital in-services as assigned.
      • Follows department policies and procedures for age appropriate diets and preparation of food items for patient trayline.
      • Completes special cleaning assignments.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      Education and/or Experience:

      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Hospital or cafeteria setting experience preferred
      • Merchandising and stocking preferred
      • Training will include tray line, patient services, cashier, and cafeteria aid
      • Minimum cooking experience, knowledge of recipes preferred
