POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees the Dining team in Care Services. Responsibilities include training, counseling, issuing progressive discipline, conducting performance evaluations, scheduling, assignment of work duties, and direction of work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Represents the campus in a positive manner while creating an environment that fosters respect and courtesy for residents and employees alike. Works within the campus programs to promote safety and the well-being of all residents and employees.
Upholds the campus's Mission Statement.
Maintains HIPAA standards and regards all medical or healthcare information pertaining to residents and employees as confidential.
Monitors equipment and inventories food and supplies to assure the security and safety of the dietary department. Assists in the servicing of equipment.
Performs sanitation inspections regularly. Holds the utility aide and cook team members accountable for all sanitation standards and expectations. Issues appropriate coaching and progressive discipline to staff members who fail to maintain proper sanitation standards.
Consults with the dietician, the Director of Quality Assurance, the Healthcare Administrator, the CDM, and the Director of Dining Services and directs the service of weekly and monthly menus, storage of food and dietary supplies.
Holds staff accountable and ensures (firsthand) that food is prepared, tasted and served at proper temperatures according to the preferences of residents and to the highest industry standards. Issues appropriate coaching and progressive discipline to staff members who fail to meet these standards.
Visits members, families and guests in the dining room and in their residences to solicit feedback regarding the quality of the food and service. Communicates findings with responsible staff members and if appropriate issues praise, coaching, or discipline.
Participates in the Monthly Dining Services Committee meetings soliciting comments from the members/residents on food quality and services.
Sets service standards for and regularly monitors Care Services dining room service staff regarding the safe, courteous delivery of meals to dining residents. Creates or seeks ideas and means to improve the standards of service and food quality. Issues appropriate coaching and progressive discipline to service staff members who fail to meet service standards.
Audits programs within the food service department.
Creates sanitation programs/schedules including daily weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and sanitation inspections. Holds all staff responsible for maintaining sanitation programs/schedule including daily weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and sanitation inspections and issues appropriate coaching and progressive discipline to staff members who fail to meet the standard.
Operates satellite kitchen and dining room incompliance with all regulations from federal, state, or any other governmental agencies having jurisdiction over the campus. Issues appropriate coaching and progressive discipline to staff members who fail to comply with regulations from federal, state, or any other governmental agencies having jurisdiction over the campus.
Maintains diet cards/records on all healthcare residents and cites adjustments or reports that need to be made regarding resident wellness.
Recruits care service dining team members.
Interviews care service dining job applicants.
Hires care service dining team applicants who meet the qualifications established for open job positions.
Responsible for knowledge of fire and safety procedures including those involving blood-borne pathogens.
Remains in proper attire at all times and maintains a high standard of appearance.
Participates in professional improvement workshops, seminars and meetings which allow continued education on current affairs in retirement community management or food service.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Healthcare Administrator.

Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Expected Hours of Work: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Work indoors for the majority of the work day (fluorescent lights, HVAC system, solid surface flooring, normal heat and cold conditions associated with managing a kitchen facility, normal office and kitchen noise levels).
Climb up to two flights of stairs occasionally.
Lift objects of 35 pounds or less over the head.
Move objects of 50 pounds or less.
Standing for extended periods.
TRAVEL: No travel is expected although occasional travel may be required for training sessions, continuing education opportunities, emergency situations, and other company functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduation or GED required.
1-2 years’ experience in a similar position desired.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) plus the willingness to learn other computer programs if required.
Ability to use miscellaneous office equipment.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
CPR, First Aid, and AED certified
Must conduct all business with a professional manner and with a high level of confidentiality.
Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record as specified by the Company and by the
Company's automobile insurance carrier.
Certified in ServSafe within the past 2 years.
Respond to medical emergencies.
Assist with resident evacuations
