Worcestershire Acute are currently seeking organised and motivated candidates to fulfil dietician opportunities within the team under a long-term placement contract.Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills looking to embark on a new opportunity within the NHS? The post holder will be confident in complex nutrition support and will ideally have experience working in surgery, gastro, ITU, and/or enteral feeding. Experience in parenteral feeding is also highly desired. They must be able to demonstrate initiative and prioritise a complex workload whilst working both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a team.
High levels of both written and oral communication are essential to this post with the ability to deliver or discuss difficult diagnosis and prognosis with tact, empathy, managing distressed or aggressive patients or carers/relatives. The post holder must be able to communicate accurate and sensitive information to patients, carers, and relatives as well as within their own team & colleagues.
Main duties of the job
Role Details:
To provide clinical leadership by being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of practice, including the management of patients receiving treatment
To function as an autonomous practitioner, working within codes of practice and professional guidelines when providing expert advice to patients on therapeutic diets
To use clinical judgement and analyse the patient's personal circumstances before formulating a dietary care plan
Either work on inpatient work involving complex nutritional support or to cover outpatient adult clinics. They could do a combination of both if desired.
To prioritise and manage caseload of inpatients and outpatient referrals received from Consultants, GPs and other healthcare professionals
To support Band 5 dietitians with the delivery of group sessions for patients diagnosed with Coeliac Disease
To deliver training to nursing and medical staff on nutrition related topics
To work with MDT and specialist nurses to enhance effective nutrition support for medical and surgical patients
