      Job summary

      The post holder will be responsible for the nutritional assessment, treatment, education and group work with all of the patients on our eating disorders ward. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and will be an active member of an established, committed and energetic team, participating in the ongoing development of the service and clinical governance issues.

      Main duties of the job

      Develops, implements and evaluates dietary and nutritional plans designed to promote the physical well-being of patients within Priory units.

      Priory Hospital Bristol is part of the Healthcare Division of Priory and has 77 beds over seven wards varying from Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Adult Psychiatric Intensive Care, Acquired Brain Injury, Huntingtons and Dementia. Priory Hospital Bristol offers calming and recovery focused inpatient treatment for service users as well as day care and outpatient services. Personalised treatment programmes are delivered by our multidisciplinary team, specialising in the management and treatment of acute and complex mental health problems.

      Job responsibilities

      • Receives and responds promptly to referrals, undertaking consultations and assessments to determine effective dietary and nutritional plans for assigned clients using appropriate interventions.
      • Plans, monitors and reviews dietary and nutritional interventions ensuring they continue to meet the needs of the patient and are consistent with the provisions detailed in the clients general therapy plan.
      • Manages, monitors and reviews an assigned caseload, providing clinical supervision of dietary and nutritional plans and through regular consultation and liaison with professional and clinical colleagues.
      • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records in the form of case notes, case files, clinical reports, computerised system information and other associated documentation, presenting and sharing relevant information and knowledge concerning assigned clients with professional and clinical colleagues at regular multi-disciplinary team meetings.
      • Liaises with professional and clinical colleagues providing professional advice and guidance, facilitating related group therapy sessions and assisting with the analysis of statistical data and information for research and audit purposes.

      • A degree in dietetics or nutrition together with a relevant post-graduate qualification in relevant specialism. The role holder must be HCPC registered and a member of a relevant professional institution.
