      Position Highlights

Arizona State Museum (ASM) at the University of Arizona is in search of a Digital Asset Specialist. This position serves in the Collections Division at ASM. The incumbent provides visual images of ASM's collections, events, and exhibits for documentation, publication (including via the Internet), museum displays, research, marketing and other appropriate uses. This position requires photographic documentation of funerary objects prior to repatriations. The incumbent scans photographic prints, negatives, and color transparencies from the collection to create digital copies for use by internal and external clients. The incumbent is also responsible for digital asset management of image files they/he/she create and those submitted to ASM as part of our legal mandates of archaeology projects.

The ideal candidate for this position will model the highest degree of professionalism, work ethic, and interpersonal engagement with colleagues while working to support the museum's mission and goals. The successful candidate is a self-starter who works to improve functionality and efficiency and manages specific projects to successful completion with little supervision. We are looking for someone who is organized and who can work independently or function in a team setting.

This position requires the incumbent to work primarily on-site with occasional remote work.

ASM serves the State of Arizona as its official archaeological repository and as the permitting authority for archaeological activity on state land. It holds the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of Native North American basketry, composed of 35,000 specimens of woven fiber, dating back some 7,000 years. ASM also holds the world’s largest, most comprehensive, and best documented collection of Southwest Indigenous pottery, with 24,000 whole-vessel specimens dating back more than 2,000 years. Its photographic and library/archive collections are similarly unparalleled. Its conservation laboratory and preservation program are world-renowned.

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
