- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, film or related field or four (4) years equivalent experience.
- One (1) year of experience working in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing with proven storytelling ability, digital communications, content creation, or social media management.
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, film or related field.
- Two (2) years of experience working in video production and website/social media management, basic graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Spark, Photoshop) and video editing software.
- Proficiency with major social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite).
- Experience in school public relations.
- Bilingual or multilingual capabilities.
- Deep knowledge visual communications, print, digital, photography, video, branding and typography.
- Knowledge of modern lighting and audio equipment.
- Experience using Adobe Premier and/or Final Cut Pro editing systems, including digitizing from a variety of sources.
- Knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator or similar applications.
- Knowledge of Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., Blackboard, SchoolMessenger, WordPress).
- Experience with the fundamental concepts of communications and public relations.
- Demonstrated ability to take a project from concept to completion with minimal supervision and direction.
- Demonstrated creativity in producing videos that meet the expectations of project clients.
- Ability to capture and edit photos and videos for digital use.
- Strong writing, editing, desktop publishing and proofreading skills
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
- Ability to function productively as a member of a creative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, organizational, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Create, schedule, and manage approved content for BISD official website and social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
- Write and publish approved digital content including news updates, announcements, features, and event coverage for the district website and social media platforms.
- Collaborate with schools and departments to gather stories, photos, and updates to promote student achievements, staff highlights, and district events.
- Monitor social media trends and engagement metrics; recommend strategies to grow reach and engagement.
- Respond to comments and inquiries on social media in a timely and professional manner, escalating issues as needed.
- Assist with the creation of newsletters, press releases, flyers, and other digital or printed communication materials.
- Support emergency communication efforts including weather-related closures and crisis messaging on digital platforms.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, privacy guidelines, and branding standards.
- Attend school and community events to capture photos, video, and information for digital content.
- Maintain an editorial calendar in coordination with the communications team.
- Produces content for social media sites using latitude for independent judgement, including taking photographs and capturing videos of internal events as deemed appropriate.
- Supports the management in all facets of the organizational brand and associated sub-brands under general supervision.
- Manages multiple projects working through multiple revisions while keeping a keen attention to detail.
- Supports the maintenance of a physical and electronic library.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
- Comply with all district routines and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality.

Salary is determined on directly related experience supported by a service record or experience affidavit. Annualized pay may be pro-rated based on actual start date. This position is non-stipend eligible.
Position Summary
The Digital Communications Specialist plays a key role in advancing the mission and image of the Boerne Independent School District by creating, curating, and disseminating content across the district’s digital platforms. This role is primarily responsible for managing the district’s social media presence, assisting with internal and external communications, and maintaining an engaging, accurate, and timely online presence. This role will support the development of strategic technology designs for internal and external capital campaigns including email design, signage, social graphics, marketing resource kits, donor materials, event collateral and more.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard o?ce equipment, including personal computer, telephone, printer, copier, fax machine, calculator, camera equipment to include camera and video camera, multimedia devices, and other equipment applicable to the position.
