      Role Purpose

      An accomplished Digital Lead to drive the innovation, creation, execution, and management of connected content across Waitrose’s digital platforms. Reporting to the Content Director, you'll play a key role in bringing the content strategy to life across Waitrose.com and the app, delivering ideas that connect content to commerce.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Lead day-to-day digital content operations, collaborating with specialist Leads client-side and in-house to deliver cohesive customer experiences online.

      • Develop and deliver the monthly content plan for Waitrose.com, ensuring key pages such as the Inspiration hub and Recipe landing page remain fresh, seasonally relevant and aligned to wider brand campaigns.

      • Drive data-informed content optimisation, maintenance and audits for Waitrose.com, working with SEO specialists, UX developers, and UI designers to ensure a seamless digital experience.

      • Develop and implement innovative digital strategies and creativity that push the boundaries of traditional content creation, leveraging emerging technologies (e.g. AR/VR, AI) to create memorable experiences.

      • Manage and mentor a team of content producers delivering always-on, SEO-informed and seasonal campaign online content such as Health and occasions e.g. Valentine’s, Mother’s Day, Easter, Christmas.

      • Support digital activations e.g. live streaming, virtual events and interactive campaigns that engage and resonate with audiences.

      • Develop processes to report on digital content performance across all channels and platforms on a monthly and campaign basis.

      Qualifications & Skills

      • + 10 years’ experience in digital content management and production, ideally in e-commerce, with a proven ability to drive innovative digital strategies that elevate brand presence and engagement

      • Strong team management experience, with the ability to lead and inspire, and ensure collaborative, efficient workflows

      • Deep understanding of digital platforms, SEO, and content optimisation, and the ability to balance creative excellence with data-driven decisions and business requirements

      • Solid knowledge of audience behaviour online and how to target audiences effectively, using insights to drive creative content strategies and digital activations

      • Experience with various CMS platforms and basic HTML/CSS and UX knowledge to guide content creation

      • Exceptional writing, editing, subbing, technical and creativity skills to effectively deliver content

      • Background in food retail or lifestyle content creation and production, with a focus on leveraging digital innovations to enhance the content experience

      • Experience in data analysis and performance tracking using analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics)

      • Understanding of best practices for optimising content for mobile platforms

      • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working seamlessly across multiple teams to achieve common goals

      • Ability to use AI tools creatively and strategically, freeing up time for greater creativity and innovation
