Job Description

- Research, develop, and create 3-5 videos for NOVA’s YouTube channel
- Produce episode-related social media content, as needed
- Produce and host on-camera
- Research and develop stories
- Conduct in-depth research/interviews
- Write engaging scripts in compliance with NOVA’s fact-checking processes
- Capture high-quality audio and video footage
- Comply with relevant rules and regulations, including WGBH and PBS rights policies
- Physics degree or background
- Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro required; familiarity with Adobe After Effects preferred
- Enthusiasm and familiarity with science/physics principles
- Ability to capture and convey complex concepts in an approachable and easily understandable way
- Highly motivated, creative storyteller committed to working collaboratively Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility
- Strong verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to prioritize and work on deadline in a rapidly changing digital environment
- High degree of organization and attention to detail
- Commitment to journalistic accuracy and integrity

- Physics degree or background
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
- A minimum of 3 years video production
- Experience with on-camera hosting

PROJECT OVERVIEW
“What the Physics?!” was a popular NOVA YouTube series that explored questions and ideas in physics. In honor of NOVA’s 50th anniversary season, we want to launch a short digital series in the style of “What the Physics?!” covering foundational topics in physics similar to those in the original series, such as 3 Things That Are Faster Than Light and Why Do Hurricanes Spin? . With this newly launched series we aim to engage new audiences in the science storytelling that has made NOVA trusted and loved for the past 50 years.
JOB OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of NOVA’s Senior Digital Producer and with the support of a video editor and production assistant, the Digital Producer will be responsible for developing, producing, and hosting 3-5 episodes, approximately 4-6 minutes each, explaining concepts in physics for online audiences. The ideal candidate will be a creative producer and enthusiastic host with impeccable editorial judgment who has a track-record of creating engaging stories on challenging science topics, including physics.
