      The Position

      SUMMARY

      The Digital Solutions Engineer provides technical advice to support a variety of post-sales activities, including installation, testing, integration, and maintenance of Roche Diagnostic Commercial (RDC) products. This includes consulting with sales and customers on RDC system product solutions and integration with customers’ medical systems (LIS, EMR, etc). While much of this work is performed remotely, this position will require 25% or greater travel to customer sites for consultation and/or installation, issue resolution, and participation in team meetings as required. This is a remote position.

      KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Assists Field Project Managers and Sales/Marketing in validating recommended RDC products/applications to meet customer needs by analyzing customer lab workflows and testing environments

      • Prepares detailed product specifications and customer requirements for the implementation and integration of customer applications and/or solutions; translates these into Roche IT Product configuration settings

      • Sets appropriate installation expectations with customers and ensures resources are aligned and available to complete required activities; directs and coordinates activities to ensure projects progress on schedule and meet specified project performance parameters

      • Develops integration, implementation, and installation materials for supported IT products

      • Provides technical support to customers on pre-implementation operational responsibilities; performs remote and/or on-site support for system software and solution, including mock go-live & go-live support

      • Validates that product applications/solutions function according to specifications; evaluates effectiveness and ensures full customer satisfaction during and after installation and integration

      • Completes all prescribed pre-sale and post-sale technical implementation activities by following procedures and processes to ensure products perform to specifications

      • Actively participates in and conducts pre-implementation, implementation, and post-project review meetings for RDC customers and internal stakeholders

      • Participates in new hire training and mentoring activities based on area of expertise

      • Performs related administrative duties such as creating and submitting expense and status reports while adhering to regulatory requirements

      • Networks with senior internal and external personnel in area of expertise as well as some key contacts outside area of expertise

      WHO YOU ARE

      You are an early to mid-career professional with wide-ranging experience working on issues requiring evaluation of many factors. Exercising appropriate judgment in selecting evaluation methods and determining solutions is critical. Additionally, you are comfortable coordinating the activities of others, networking with internal and external senior personnel in your area of expertise, and networking with key contacts outside your area of expertise.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Medical Technology, Life Sciences AND 2 years of laboratory IT, general IT, product line experience, OR

      • 4 years of laboratory IT, general IT, or product line experience

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Able to travel 25% or more to customer sites

      • Currently reside within 50 miles of a major metropolitan US airport

      • Technical skills within product groups; including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft IIS, Networking, Oracle, Apache, JBoss, Drupal, PHP, MySQL, Networking, and Intersystems Cache

      • Familiar with healthcare domain integration standards (ASTM, HL7, IHE, DICOM, HIPAA, ADT, etc.)

      • Experience with file parsing (XML, XSLT, etc.)

      • Knowledge of the clinical customer base and critical components of an LIS and laboratory IT processes and workflows

      • One year project or process management experience

      • Understanding of RDC total solution including interaction between RDC IT Solutions and Instruments

      • Ability to troubleshoot problems, consult, and drive resolution

      • Effective communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with and translate requirements for both technical and non-technical groups
