The Product Line Engineering Leader (PLEL) leader will be the primary engineering leader for our Military Aircraft Systems product family, focusing on program execution, improvement delivery (bottom line) and new business growth. This leadership position is delegated engineering authority and provides engineering leadership for the assigned product family/families during all life-cycle phases (strategy, new business, development, production and through life support).
• Neutral representation of all engineering design disciplines while integrating them to meet the needs of the business
• Accountable to meet the overall cost, schedule and technical performance of the integrated engineering teams for all projects within the product line through their entire life cycle
• Design responsibility for all products in the product family, integrating architects, subject matter experts, project technical engineering leads and discipline engineers into cohesive product development teams, addressing all aspects of the product life cycle
• In collaboration with program management, business development and the Technology & Capability Lead, prepare, integrate, communicate and deliver Product Roadmaps that sustain and grow the business
• Identify and support the development of critical skills and resources for the product line engineering team
• Ensure preparation and approval of competitive engineering bids that are executable, meet established price-to-win targets, and grow the business
• Identify develop & sustain critical skills and resources
• Improve processes and skills that support program performance
• Provide timely and accurate staffing and resource forecasts, supporting the efforts of the engineering design disciplines to acquire and satisfy staffing needs
• Overall customer (internal / external) technical POC for product family
As a leader and supervisor the PLEL must also:
• Achieve established business and engineering financial targets
• Work borderlessly to solve problems, secure resources, and ensure a culture of affordability, innovation, diversity & inclusion
• Recruit, train, develop and retain teams to meet business needs - balancing employee career aspirations with business needs, and resources
• Perform supervisory duties in alignment with the business, administering communication, performance, compensation and recognition programs in alignment with business needs, values, and budgets
• Assign appropriate Product Technical Leaders to projects
