      Director, Materials Management Implementation – USPI

      JOB DETAILS:

      The Director of Materials Management Implementation will work with both customer support and front-line leaders to drive measurable impact for new USPI facilities. Primary responsibilities include due diligence support, implementation of operational excellence initiatives, and management of post-merger integration activities. Reporting to the Senior Director of Supply Chain Operations, this position will collaborate closely with the Regional Director of Materials Management, Group Purchasing Organization, Development M&A, and Market Leadership Teams to coach and guide new USPI facilities through critical cost savings and operations implementation processes. The preferred candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving skills, demonstrating a proactive approach and a keen eagerness to identify and deliver opportunities.

      This position will require up to 50% travel and will be based in Dallas, TX. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      • Supporting market cost savings objectives and implementing best practices across new USPI facilities, accelerating the speed to value realization.
      • Leading the day-today project management and coordination activities across supply chain due diligence, planning, implementation, and divestiture activities.
      • Managing process interdependencies effectively across workstreams, ensuring activities are occurring in proper sequence and order.
      • Supervising supply chain onboarding activities to ensure there are no gaps, collaborating with cross-workstream leaders.
      • Leveraging supply chain corporate shared services capabilities effectively to drive timely and efficient delivery of deliverables.
      • Ensuring key supply chain implementation activities are on-track by finding resolutions to barriers and bottlenecks.
      • Coordinating effective delivery of supply chain communications across all stakeholders to drive awareness and accountability.
      • Tracking and compiling supply chain implementation metrics for presentation to leadership stakeholders.
      • Soliciting feedback from cross-workstream leaders to continuously improve the onboarding process.

      Qualifications:

      A bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, or related field is preferred.

      A minimum of five years in the healthcare industry is required with at least two to three of those years in a project management or implementation capacity.

      Candidates with direct project management, value consulting, or supply chain transformation experience will be prioritized.

      Qualifications

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

      Required:

      • Strong negotiation experience required
      • Excellent understanding of Orthopedic Implants
      • Ability to successfully negotiate with implant vendors
      • Experience in driving value through rebates and tier level contract negotiation required
      • 3-5 years healthcare materials management experience with at least 2 years supervisory experience
      • Excellent analytical skills required, results driven
      • Knowledge of healthcare purchasing, inventory management systems, procurement, supplies distribution/operations and contracting, capital equipment and automated systems.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills, Strong problem solving skills.
      • Proficient in the Microsoft Product Suite.

      Preferred:

      • Acute Care Hospital procurement knowledge strongly preferred
      • Knowledge of IOS/ENVI, Cerner, and HCIQ systems preferred.

      EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

      Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience for the job.

      Required:

      • Bachelor’ Degree in business, procurement or health care administration,

      Preferred:

      • MBA strongly preferred.

      Responsibilities

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      Responsibility for the establishment and maintenance of a work environment that reflects USPI’s EDGE™, performance improvement and customer service program consistent with the Corporation’s Mission Statement.

      Lead in the negotiation of rebate and/or tiered level contracts, where appropriate, for specific facilities or entire market. Track all monetary benefits related to these contracts.
      Manage the Materials Management functions within the defined market, to include purchasing, inventory management, distribution of supplies, management and tracking of suppliers and capital equipment.
      Train, implement and direct various facets of the automated Materials Management system – (ENVI/Cerner/Meditech), to include requisitioning, purchasing, inventory management, invoice reconciliation, and accrual management.
      Research and evaluate products/services and supplier performance in support of existing and/or new contracts.
      Ensure facility GPO purchasing compliance for purchased services

      Participate in meetings as a healthcare, procurement, and financial resource to discuss strategic solutions for improving profitability and to ensure that quality products and services are provided.

      Gather, interpret and analyze data from various systems to:

      1. Determine budget issues and savings opportunities
      2. Lead discussions and meetings to determine conversion opportunities
      3. Implement Savings opportunities and measure results
      4. Recommend and/or adjust procedures relative to Materials Management practices

      Develop and prepare reports and presentations based on usage statistics, purchasing trends, marketing data and savings relative to competitive bidding and national agreements.

      Develop and maintain relationships with various departments and levels throughout USPI and vendor organizations.
      Drive savings and improve market financial performance through contract negotiation, process improvements, strategy recommendations, and the implementation of existing GPO and USPI contracts.
      Perform budgetary research for capital equipment planning and procurement.
      Lead Market and/or Regional Supply Chain meetings to provide value, vision and strategy to managed facilities around purchasing and materials management activities
