      About Whitten Regional Center

      Whitten Regional Center is an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) of the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) located in Laurens, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

      Job Responsibilities
      Under limited supervision of the Direct Support Manager this position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Direct Support Professional I and II's.

      • Responsible for the supervisory functions of the Direct Support Professional I's and II's.
      • Ensures that all documentation required for the consumers Individual Support Plan (ISP) have been completed and monitors the safety and care of consumers.
      • Ensures Active Treatment for consumers in assigned buildings is implemented by staff. This entails monitorship programs developed by the Interdisciplinary (ID) Team. Monitors completion of behavior data sheets, ISP training programs, and GER (General Event Reports) to ensure all required documentation is entered into THERAP. Monitors Day Programs monthly (i.e. on/off campus).
      • Responsible for reporting significant events and suspected abuse immediately per Agency and Office policy and procedures.
      • Performs additional duties as assigned.

      This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts! Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after three, six, nine, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

      Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing ICF/IID, as well as directives relevant to an ICF. Ability to exercise sound judgment, comply with all required regulations and procedures; be a team leader and maintain effective working relationships. Computer skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, which includes standing, walking, stooping, bending and pulling.

      Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
