- Responsible for administrative operations of the unit
- Oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders
- May be responsible for both inpatient and outpatient treatment services
- Partnership with the unit nursing director for department operations and development of services and the staff
- Leads and directs the work of others including supervision of social workers and therapists
- Understanding how patient flow and census impacts the success and sustainability of the unit
- Reports to the executive leadership at the hospital on overall operations of the unit
- Liaison with community partners to make services more accessible
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Master’s degree in human services, healthcare or healthcare/business administration required
- 7+ years of experience in the behavioral health field
- Leadership experience in a hospital or inpatient setting preferred
- Understanding of evidence-based treatment planning
- Experience with regulations and accreditation that governs services provided by the behavioral health unit
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
