      Utah Valley University is seeking a Director in Biotechnology NPCRO! Working under the supervision of the Biology Department, the Director of Biotechnology Research will: head a Non-Profit Contract Research Organization (CRO) that coordinates and supervises research partnerships between Biotechnology students and industry; set up a laboratory for Biotechnology student research; liaise with Biotechnology firms to identify and implement student research projects and internships; assist in preparation of grants and proposals; supervise support staff and student research projects.
      • Liaise with Biotechnology firms to identify opportunities for student research and/or internships.
      • Assist students in identification and completion of research projects and/or internships.
      • Supervise student research projects and/or internships. Order materials, supplies, small equipment, maintain larger instrumentation.
      • Train students in proper laboratory safety and best laboratory practices and proper use of laboratory instrumentation.
      • Write and/or assist in writing in-house and extra-mural proposals for grants and contracts to support the biotechnology program, student research, and science education. Assist in administration of grants and contracts that support the biotechnology program, student research and science education.
      • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
      Graduation from an accredited institution with a Ph.D. in biotechnology or related field; OR MS in biotechnology or related field plus 2 years of experience.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      Previous experience working in the biotechnology industry and/or previous experience mentoring undergraduate researchers.

      • Ability to write proposals, reports, and grants.
