Director, Business Applications
Boulder Community Health, Boulder, CO 80303
$52.67 - $97.81 an hour - Full Time, Days. 40 hours a week.Boulder Community Health is seeking a Director, Business Applications responsible for managing the Business Applications Department in support of Boulder Community Health’s strategic plan and the day-to-day needs of business and health system operations.

•Bachelor of Science degree (Preferred):
- Preferred area of study in business, healthcare, or information technology related field.
- A combination of education and related experience may substitute for the degree.
•Healthcare experience required.
•Experience with the Epic electronic health record preferred.
•Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
Responsibilities
•Provide leadership for staff in the department.
a. Works closely in collaboration with the Chief Information Officer, AVP Technology and Value Chain, Director of Technical Services, Director of Clinical Informatics and Clinical Applications, the vCISO, and the Chief Medical Informatics Officer and their teams to provide leadership to the overall IS organization and hospital.
b. Responsible for hiring and terminations, training, coaching, mentoring, disciplinary actions, recognition, and professional development activities for assigned staff.
c. Complete employee performance evaluations and competency-based evaluations in a timely manner.
d. Ensure efficient resource utilization including planning and assignment of duties.
e. Directs the work of Analysts in the implementation, maintenance, optimization, and support of revenue cycle, business, and decision support applications.
f. Negotiates for and assigns department staff to projects.
•Healthcare IT Leadership
a. Seeks professional growth and personal development through participation in education programs, current literature, and active participation in professional societies on the national and local levels.
b. Understands emerging trends in healthcare and how technology can be used to improve patient care and improve hospital operations.
c. Maintains current knowledge of legislation affecting the healthcare industry.
•Provide oversight for the day-to-day functions of the department.
a. Monitor departmental financial performance monthly and prepare both the annual capital and operating budgets according to the published schedule. Assist other departments who require IT related costs for budget and forecasting.
b. Assist assigned staff with proper identification, resolution, or escalation of key issues.
c. Provide oversight for the assigned software applications, including:
i. Oversee testing and deployment of new software releases and/or functionality and ensure the integration of data, information, and communication systems (i.e., interfaces, automatic faxing of results, file transfer protocols, etc.) are operational.
ii. Ensure the efficient use of existing system functionality meets end-users needs and that ongoing reviews of available functionality is reviewed with customers.
iii. Oversee system dictionaries to ensure they are maintained in a manner that best serves the needs of the hospital/clinic and not just a specific user/department.
