As the Director, CIBC Leadership Institute (CLI), you'll play a critical role in developing the strategic roadmap and leading the design, and the development and delivery of programming and solutions for one or more of the CLI’s core Academies. You'll define the trajectory of leadership at CIBC by studying external research and consulting with experts in the field, senior CIBC stakeholders, and leaders at all levels of the organization; build the strategic roadmap for one or more CLI Academies,; define the scope, outcomes and success measures for Academy programs and solutions, as well as their enabling supports. You'll direct or personally execute the design, curation and sometimes facilitation of program solutions and supports, ensuring that they are: informed by the most up-to-date analysis and research, rooted in CIBC’s Leadership Capabilities orchestrated to achieve all objectives and measures, and structured into compelling and impactful experiences.

You'll partner closely with CIBC leaders, external experts, vendors and other CLI and CIBC team members. To function effectively, you must have excellent performance consulting and design capabilities; exceptional communication, writing and presentation skills; confidence and experience with AI and multimedia tools; and the ability to manage multiple and competing deliverables.

You must also have hands-on experience researching, ideating, designing and facilitating content for adult learners in a variety of formats, such as eLearning, self-guided, and instructor-led; and experience with modalities such as audio, video and animation.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

      How You’ll Succeed

      • Innovative thought leadership – Stay up to date with skills, trends and changes related to leadership development, technology and culture change, and translate how they apply to CIBC. Create compelling narratives and recommendations for developing leaders at all levels so they can lead themselves, our teams and our business, in order to deliver on CIBC’s purpose and achieve our bank’s strategic goals.

      • Consulting – Consult with internal and external stakeholders to assess leader proficiency, diagnose gaps, and gather requirements for designing, implementing and measuring solutions that grow targeted strategic capabilities.

      • Advice – Leverage research and consulting insights to determine the appropriate tools, solutions and methodologies (e.g., learning in the flow of work; curated solutions, e-learning, multimedia, virtual workshop, Masterclass, knowledge object, or blended solution; etc.). Provide targeted learning recommendations.

      • Presentation – Effectively present your recommendations to a variety of audiences, including senior executives. Present content by creating detailed design plans, instructional strategies, objectives, research results, measurement plans, etc. Create clear recommendations including content highlights, key concepts, multimedia ideas and prototypes

      • Design, writing and outcome measurement – Design strategic development experiences and solutions that are innovative, consumable, and effectively build the capability of leaders at different levels within CIBC. Apply change expertise, business acumen and innovative solutions to sustain, measure and increase the impact of solutions.

      Who You Are

      • You're a systems thinker. You look at the big picture, and you see the details and implications up, down and across the organization. Because of this, you notice things that others don’t, so you’re able to architect programs and change plans that involve all the right people, incorporate all the right elements (not just the learning), and deliver high-impact results.

      • You're a problem solver . You enjoy investigating complex problems, making sense of information to find effective solutions, and applying creativity within the situational constraints.

      • You can demonstrate experience in designing impactful learning solutions. You apply sound instructional/information design principles to multimedia assets and e-learning, instructor-led, and self-guided training materials. It is an asset if you possess post-secondary education in Adult Education or Instructional Design.

      • You're motivated by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to bring a shared vision to life, and you leverage your leadership role to mentor, coach, and bring out the best in others.

      • You're equally at home in a high-stakes conversation, a presentation to senior leadership, or at the front of a classroom. You know that leadership is more than academic concepts and frameworks. It is a living, dynamic exchange which you relish contributing to, and which gives you energy and insight.

      • You have curiosity, passion and your own point of view, when it comes to the subject of leadership development. You are familiar with major works on the subject, and your email inbox and podcast and LinkedIn feeds bring you new leadership insights and ideas each day. You’re happy to work with a subject matter expert on a new leadership program – but you certainly don’t need one.

      • Values matter to you . You bring your real self to work and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability .
