      About the Department

      The Strategy & Rare Disease (STARS) organization drives the long-term strategic direction of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI)/North America Operations (NAO) and leads all US commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk’s Rare Disease portfolio. The mandate of STARS is to facilitate the development and to coordinate the execution of the long-term strategy, defining a sustainable business model in US beyond a 5-year time horizon. This department serves as the insiders of the US market when informing and help shaping upstream decisions around future investments and assets. The Rare Disease portfolio includes products in the hemophilia and growth disorders therapeutic areas, new products in the pipeline, and products acquired through business development efforts in existing and new areas. The STARS team collaborates and partners with groups across NAO, Research & Early Development, Development, innovation hubs across NN, other affiliates, and global.       The Position:

      This role is accountable for the organizational processes and practices for launch readiness and subsequent commercial uptake through the first year of launch. Pre-launch, this will include coordinating and aligning functional leads across commercialization efforts ranging from product supply, medical, regulatory to market access, patient services and marketing.

      Post-launch, this role with work cross-functionally leveraging expertise from the Commercial, Medical, Field, Advanced Analytics and Multi-Channel leads, to enable dynamic targeting using evolving data sources.

      The role will interact with a wide set of internal stakeholders that are involved in commercialization of new products in the US and globally in Novo Nordisk. These stakeholders include key functions in NNI and in Global, such as Rare Renal Sales, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, Commercial Operations, Insights and Analytics, Forecasting, Product Supply, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Clinical and HEOR units. It also includes external agencies and partners.

      The person will also collaborate & share expertise with the Novo Nordisk Rare Disease unit to enable similar launch readiness and HCP qualification activities in IO.

      Relationships:

      This position reports to the Executive Director of Nedosiran Marketing in the Strategy and Rare Disease unit

      Essential Functions: Pre-Launch

      • Creates comprehensive project plans, budgets, and strategies for nedosiran launch and assigned projects
      • Translate project plans into measurable actions and execute against projects, procedures, and processes
      • Facilitates all aspects stakeholder management, scheduling, team meetings, budget, and communications to ensure all milestones and launch targets are met
      • Leads the business planning process and actively contributes to the development of the Strategic Product Plan and related business reviews
      • Builds launch toolkit including milestone tracking meetings and timelines to meet program objectives
      • Creates, manages, and publishes Commercialization Dashboard
      • Anticipates roadblocks and elevates when appropriate. Proactively facilitates the development of contingency and/or risk-mitigation plans
      • Influence US and Global organizational processes and functional leads to practice and optimize launch readiness using the adapted LAP process for the ultra-rare condition Primary Hyperoxaluria

      • Partner with and constructively challenge cross-functional teams to collaborate in a timely and effective manner by identifying and sharing information and tools as needed by cross-functional teams (in US and Global)

      • Embed discipline among the launch team working groups regarding the LAP process and ensure clear understanding of their accountabilities for the successful launch of nedosiran

      • Fine-tune and continue to evolve the nedosiran US LAP framework by leveraging expertise from functions including but not limited to commercial, sales, medical, market access, R&D, and supply chain

      • Understand and help develop the US brand strategy and its tactics, and support the brand lead in communicating brand strategy in sub-team forums

      • Create comprehensive project plans, anticipates road-blocks and escalates when appropriate. Proactively initiates the development of contingency and/or risk-mitigation plans when appropriate and partners with nedosiran US and global leads to communicate any changes

      • Translate project plans into measurable actions and execute against projects, procedures, and processes

      • Partner with NNI and Global nedosiran leads to identify critical launch KPIs to assess the degree of launch readiness objectively

      • Collaborate with the Insights team to develop monitoring and reporting processes against each KPI metric

      • Facilitate all aspects of stakeholder management, scheduling, team meetings, budget, and communications to ensure the achievement of all milestones and launch targets.

      • Lead the design and execution of the nedosiran launch meetings

      Essential Functions: Post-Launch

      • Create, manage and publish Commercialization Dashboard

      • Coordinate with Sales RBDs, brand lead & I&A on optimizing customer target lists and the working process for qualification of HCP Accounts for the field force. This includes:

      • Identify and explore cost-effective sourcing of new data sources to enable efficient HCP account finding
      • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Privacy and PRB to ensure effective and compliant HCP account finding & execution of account qualification
      • Connect with all NNI Account touchpoints to ensure tactics align to strategy (Dx customer srvc. center, PSP, TBMs, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Multi-Channel, Market Access & FRMs)

      • Handle outreach to internal & external partners & develop Account profiles

      • Run regular insights sharing forums across commercial field members to ensure sharing of best practices

      • Design an iterative process to fine-tune and sharpen HCP Account finding, learning from past failures and successes

      Physical Requirements:

      Up to 25% overnight travel required.

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in science or business - MBA preferred
      • 12+ years of experience in life sciences Program Management, Commercial, and/or Tech Ops
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; consultative background preferred
      • Broad business perspective, knowledge and understanding of biotech/pharma
      • Proficiency with biotech/pharma product launches
      • Strong leadership, planning, and exceptional project management skills
      • Strong Strategy development and planning skills coupled with necessary knowledge of biotech/pharma commercialization, medical and manufacturing activities
      • Strong issue identification and problem analysis, with the ability to create and execute solutions based on the gathered data
      • Proficiency with common program management communication software tools and techniques
      • Collaborative approach in working with different teams and stakeholders in a globally oriented work environment
      • Ability to manage, prioritize and lead numerous projects simultaneously
      • Demonstrated ability to manage through change, risk, and uncertainty (ambiguity) and act decidedly with incomplete or imperfect information
      • Demonstrated ability to influence laterally and vertically; ability to influence without authority, motivate teams, and maintain high levels of respect for and from peers
      • Ability to travel within the USA and abroad
