      Overview The Director/Head of Competitive Intelligence (CI) at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals plays a pivotal role in guiding the organization's strategic decisions by delivering actionable intelligence and insights on the competitive landscape. This role involves close collaboration with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Development, Research, Investor Relations, and Corporate Strategy/BD. The role will be expected to provide a holistic view of the competitive environment across all regions and for the entire portfolio and demands a forward-thinking leader ready to shape the next era of the CI function and provide impeccable service to all business units. This position is hybrid and will be primarily located in our Cambridge, MA office. Key Responsibilities · Strategic Leadership: Provide a vision and roadmap for the evolution of the CI function, ensuring it remains ahead of industry benchmarks and best practices. · Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with senior and executive leadership across all functions to deliver critical competitive insights and alignment with business objectives. · Intelligence Gathering and Synthesis: Oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of competitive information, drawing from diverse sources to provide a 360-degree view of the competitive landscape. · Portfolio Support: Deliver insights for the entire product portfolio, from approved drugs to early-stage research programs, ensuring every unit remains competitively positioned. · Cross-functional Collaboration: Establish strong working relationships with departments across the company, ensuring that CI insights are integrated into their strategic and operational plans. · Global Coverage: Monitor and analyze competitive movements and trends across all countries, adapting CI strategies to regional nuances. · Team Leadership: Mentor, guide, and develop a high-performing CI team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Be a collaborative member of the Global Insights and Analytics Leadership Team · Customer Service: Ensure all CI activities are conducted with a customer-centric mindset, delivering actionable and timely insights to internal stakeholders. · Travel & Engagement: Represent the company at international forums, conferences, and meetings to gather firsthand intelligence and network with industry peers. · Network: Build diverse internal and external networks for primary intelligence gathering and cross-validation. Oversee development of presentations with clear storylines to communicate key conclusions and recommendations to Senior Leadership. · Scenario planning Lead all competitor and scenario planning exercises during pre-launch (e.g., War Games, etc.) and post launch (e.g., annual brand level situation analysis, etc.) Qualifications · Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, PhD, or equivalent) is preferred. · Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in Competitive Intelligence, Business Strategy, or Market Research in the pharmaceutical industry. · Proven track record of operating in a global environment and understanding diverse markets. · Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence senior leadership, and drive strategic initiatives. · Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen ability to distill complex information into actionable insights. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively. · Strong customer service orientation with a proven record of supporting internal stakeholders. · A desire to innovate and elevate the CI function, staying abreast of industry trends and technological advancements. · Travel: Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required by the role.
