      The Opportunity

      As a dedicated Director, Competitive Intelligence leader, you will direct strategic competitive intelligence initiatives. Consult with business groups to identify business objectives and determine research requirements, strategies and project timelines. Facilitate the development of new concepts, research designs, and policies and practices that aid in predicting and influencing the direction of business strategies. Provide intelligence briefings to senior and enterprise management. Build and manage a skilled competitive intelligence analytical team; providing feedback, coaching, and guidance to ensure optimal employee performance and development.

      We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is available for this position.

      The Opportunity

      What you'll do:

      • Integrate strong business operations knowledge with an in-depth understanding of competitive metrics and measures.
      • Provide insight and recommendations to improve market share growth and member satisfaction.
      • Partner with key stakeholders to determine their intelligence needs.
      • Manage enterprise wide large-scale projects, including problem definition, defining scope of deliverable, analysis and synthesis of intelligence, working with external agencies to gather primary data and manage the relevant budget.
      • Be responsible for implementing action plans to deliver actionable intelligence.
      • Develop framework to produce competitive intelligence briefing documents and presentations for senior executive team and stakeholders.
      • Direct analysis to define optimal competitive positioning for optimal market share and member satisfaction.
      • Synthesize and share insights with key leaders across the USAA enterprise to build the case for change.
      • Ensure development of methods to track program/research effectiveness.
      • Lead the ongoing improvement, development, implementation and consistent utilization of tools and processes to capture, analyze and communicate intelligence and insights.
      • Develop and implements processes and systems to provide early warning of competitive threats, emerging marketplace and industry trends.
      • Monitor and measures competitive progress.
      • Build and oversee a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.
      • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

      What you have:

      • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required for a total of 12 years’ experience) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
      • 8 years of experience in business development, market research and analysis/modeling, product management, business analysis and/or competitive intelligence.
      • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
      • Knowledge of products, pricing, rating and sales processes.
      • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research skills, including data analysis, data synthesis, SWOT analysis, and data driven recommendations.
      • Extensive experience in researching and analyzing market insights using databases and analytical processes for customer/marketing-related analytics.
      • Knowledge of risk management and compliance frameworks and experience with leveraging market intelligence data to provide insights on risk mitigation.

      • Proven ability to articulate findings to executive leadership teams.
      • Prior experience leading senior and lead level team members
      • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

      What we offer:

      Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $138,230 - $264200.

      Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
