      Job Description

      Starcom is committed to leading the future of inclusion in how we work, create experiences and invest. In 2022, we launched the Cultural Design group, a practice dedicated to enhancing our creative content offering. This team sits within Starcom’s content practice and inclusivity hub and is leading the industry by building media-first ideas and narratives that intentionally center historically marginalized identities.       We are seeking an imaginative and inspiring creative leader to join our team as Director, Cultural Design, reporting to the Head of Content. This leader will play a pivotal role in shaping direction of our agency’s inclusive-led and culture-first content offerings. Applicants must possess a deep understanding of culture, people and the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in shaping compelling narratives. They should be intellectually curious, naturally creative, and passionate about crafting ideas that captivate audiences and drive meaningful conversations.

      Responsibilities

      • Develop and implement brand ideas and strategies driving audience engagement, brand results and impact in culture
      • Study cultural, social and industry topics and trends in service of driving relevancy, engagement and participation into content ideas and activations
      • Champion diversity, equity and inclusion to ensure our content reflects a wide range of perspectives and experiences
      • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including insights, strategy, creative and media for cohesive and impactful content ideas
      • Use data-driven insights to drive effective strategies and make informed recommendations
      • Stay abreast of emerging ideas, technologies, and platforms in the media landscape, bringing an innovation-mindset to content ideas
      • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including influencers, thought leaders and subject matter experts, to continually grow cultural and industry knowledge
      • Continuously refine and evolve team processes, workflows, and best practices for efficiency and effectiveness
      • Provide vision, direction, management and support to a team of specialists to ensure work is strategic, creative, and aligned with goals
      • Contributor to agency growth through identifying organic opportunities with clients and participation in new business

      Qualifications

      • 7-10 years experience in a creative role in agency (PR, creative, media/content) or brand-side environment
      • Expertise bringing inclusive, culturally-relevant perspective to planning and creative process
      • Background designing and activating effective programs for diverse audiences
      • Strong knowledge and passion for culture, social dynamics and current affairs, with an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion
      • Strategically-grounded; highly-creative mindset. Able to spark culture-forward, breakthrough ideas from compelling insights
      • Demonstrated understanding of critical thinking and the ability to apply it to content ideas and strategies
      • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills. Able to craft engaging and persuasive content for internal and external audiences
      • Excellent organizational and project management skills. Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
      • Highly collaborative. Able to work with talent of all levels across content, media, inclusion practice and cross-agency teams
