Create a campaign of story-telling moments to demonstrate GM’s inflection point toward an all-electric future and GM Canada as a national leader in manufacturing, engineering/advanced vehicle, testing/technology/and strong sales
Coordinate and execute all company special events/announcements including media events, government visits to help build strategic relationships within GM and the community.
Build our Canadian media relationships and informed coverage with business and technical media
Develop strategies to continue building our corporate narrative including speeches and events positioning GM as Canada’s Innovation leader through earned and social media.
Provide effective and strategic communication plans to support company issues including labour and manufacturing, investments, R&D, dealer support, corporate issues, etc.
Measure our corporate communications reach and effectiveness.
Lead internal communications for over 8,000 GM Canada salaried, hourly and contract employees to enhance employee engagement and understanding of our company, brands, and technologies
Inspire GM Canada employees on GM Canada’s bright future and our role in the Company’s inflection point using internal communication channels and digital forums (townhalls, leader share, diagonal slices, business update meetings, Socrates, eNews, plant papers, etc.)
Manage internal communications support for GM Canada President
Continue to expand mobile delivery of employee communications.
Measure Internal Communication effectiveness, engage key stakeholders and share feedback / action plans.
Provide strategic direction to the Manager of GM Canada’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, including corporate donations, scholarships and community building activities, particularly focused on women in STEM.
Work closely with the local manufacturing communication team and GM Canada labour function to support flexible, competitive and innovative manufacturing operations.

10+ years of experience in a communication’s professional role. Previous supervisory skills are an asset.
Builds strong senior media relationships, and navigating in a high pace environment.
Proven success managing media relationships and relations with other outside organizations.
Superior oral, written communication skills and storytelling talent.
Exceptional organizational skills.
A demonstrated understanding of corporate priorities.
Social media experience.

Job Description
You will manage Corporate and Internal Communications for GM Canada including our company narrative in Canada, executive profile, corporate news management, employee and labour communications, Canadian Technical Centre communications and corporate social responsibility. Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, and with five direct reports, this role requires leadership and collaboration with stakeholders both inside and outside the organization to develop and execute strategies that support General Motors Canada’s internal and external reputation.
This position is classified as a Hybrid position, meaning the successful candidate will work at our Oshawa (OEC) office three (3) days a week.
