      National Security & Resilience | Counter-Terrorism Coord Centre | | Countering Violent Extremism | Various

      The Counter-Terrorism Coordination Centre (CTCC) leads the coordination of Australia's Counter Terrorism policy, strategy, legislation, operational coordination and capability development activities, across the Commonwealth and States and Territories.

      This includes management of the Australia-New Zealand Counter-Terrorism Committee (ANZCTC). Critical to the CTCC's success is close collaboration with intelligence, law enforcement, security, and policy agencies at the international, federal and state levels.

      The Counter Terrorism Coordination Centre is looking to fill multiple EL2 Director positions to lead the development and delivery of Counter Terrorism initiatives in line with the Minister's Counter Terrorism (CT) Priorities.

      These positions will work with the Commonwealth, State and Territory, and community partners to implement CVE intervention programs which aim to stop individuals becoming or remaining violent extremists, as well as leading Australian Government domestic and international policy in relation to preventing terrorist and violent extremist exploitation of the internet.

      These positions will also be responsible for leading mission critical delivery of capability uplift and training for national counter-terrorism stakeholders, as well as providing strategic leadership, policy advice, and will coordinate activities to support the Australia New Zealand Counter-Terrorism Committee (ANZCTC) and its Sub-Committees.

      Our ideal candidate

      The Department is looking for highly experienced leaders with demonstrated ability to deliver timely and high-quality outcomes, and an ability to understand and apply legislation, policies and procedures that govern and guide their operation.

      The Director is responsible for managing a team, the workflow of the section, and the effective delivery of outcomes and priorities. They identify resource and skill gaps as well as other emerging issues, addressing them to ensure the availability of resources to meet assigned objectives and priorities. They manage budgets and contracts and comply with departmental governance requirements.

      Our ideal candidate will be able to engage in a diverse range of complex and sensitive issues that require detailed planning, stakeholder engagement and communicating with influence. They will identify emerging issues affecting business outcomes as well as critical resource and skill gaps, and resolve these strategically.

      Using their management experience, our ideal candidate will employ effective control measures that mitigate risks and resolve issues with minimum disruption to workflow. They will engage widely across the Department and with relevant internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, enable the collaborative achievement of results, and seek to directly influence the key outcomes of the organisation.

      Duties and responsibilities

      • Lead a high performing team to coordinate and deliver national counter terrorism priorities
      • Lead the provision of expert advice on key policy activities that strengthen Australia's counter terrorism framework and initiatives
      • Engage and negotiate with Commonwealth, State and Territory stakeholders to further the Australian Government's counter terrorism objectives
      • Manage the delivery of high quality and timely briefing material
      • Develop policies and other associated guiding material to achieve the Department's objectives and outcomes
      • Lead, and be accountable for, effective administration and resource management, and risk management.

      To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

      The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
