      Purpose of Position

      The Director of Courseware leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of training content across operational departments including Dispatch, International Trip Planning, Maintenance, and FBO/vendor services. This role is also responsible for overseeing AQP courseware design for pilot training in partnership with the Director of Pilot Training, ensuring all instructional materials meet FAA regulatory standards and support data-driven, performance-based training models. The Director provides instructional design leadership, manages courseware development teams, and ensures content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with operational needs and AQP validation.

      Tasks and Responsibilities

      • Lead the development, review, and refinement of training content for Dispatch, International Trip Planning, vendor/FBO training, and Maintenance operations.
      • Oversee the creation and revision of AQP courseware to support pilot training programs, ensuring compliance with FAA AQP requirements and internal evaluation frameworks.
      • Apply instructional design principles to produce effective, learner-centered materials across delivery methods (e.g., classroom, eLearning, virtual).
      • Ensure all courseware aligns with FAA regulations, operational SOPs, and company policies, and is audit-ready at all times.
      • Collaborate with operational SMEs and regulatory teams to maintain technical accuracy, relevance, and instructional effectiveness of all materials.
      • Coordinate with the Director of Pilot Training and curriculum development stakeholders to support AQP data loop closure, validation gate tracking, and performance alignment.
      • Establish and manage workflows for content development, including version control, approval processes, and content lifecycle management.
      • Supervise internal instructional designers and manage third-party vendors as needed to scale content creation.
      • Monitor learner feedback, safety reports, and operational changes to proactively drive courseware updates and instructional enhancements.
      • Lead innovation efforts in content delivery formats, including microlearning, scenario-based training, and immersive media (AR/VR, video-based training, etc.).

      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other (KSAOs)

      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation-related instructional design, courseware development, or technical training leadership.
      • Working knowledge of FAA AQP structure and standards, including training system design, validation, and evaluation.
      • Direct experience developing content for non-flight operational departments such as dispatch and maintenance.
      • Strong understanding of instructional systems design (ISD), ADDIE, and adult learning principles.
      • Proficiency with modern eLearning authoring tools, LMS platforms, and digital content management systems.
      • Exceptional technical writing and project management skills, with a track record of delivering compliant, high-quality training products on time.
