      Director Cyber Security Uplift, Advisory & Engagement

      • Do you have a passion for cyber security with a vision for enhancing cyber resilience across NSW?
      • Ongoing opportunity based in the McKell building, Sydney, with in-office presence required. Flexible working arrangements are available to staff in Digital.NSW.
      • Total Remuneration Package from $231,000 per annum including superannuation to commensurate with experience

      About the Role
      As the Director of Cyber Security Uplift, Advisory & Engagement, you will lead the operationalisation of the cyber security ecosystem to ensure the uplift of cyber security across NSW Government. You will manage a team of 40 FTEs, including 5 direct reports, and oversee strategic and operational advisory, awareness, resilience development, strategy, policy, stakeholder engagement, project governance, and infrastructure analysis.


      What Will a Typical Day Look Like?

      • Rotating leadership of the national awareness coordination committee.
      • Engaging across all levels of government to address and uplift cyber-related issues.
      • Collaborating with cross-jurisdictional counterparts, Commonwealth government, NSW government state-owned entities, and internal teams within Cyber Security NSW & DCS.
      • Delivering clear and concise communication to all of government key stakeholders.
      • Lead the development and continual uplift against the NSW Cyber Security Policy and assurance program

      What is the Role Here to Achieve?

      • Ensure the reliable performance and maintenance of current cyber security measures and emerging capabilities.
      • Drive the organisation’s transition towards enhanced cyber security capabilities.
      • Build strong partnerships with technology leaders and service providers to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment on cyber security performance.
      • Support and provide advisory assistance as part of project delivery for cyber maturity against all-of-government risk, investment prioritisation, and procurement.

      Does This Sound Like You?

      • Must be able to obtain and maintain an NV2 clearance – Australian citizenship required.
      • Extensive experience in managing large cross-functional teams.
      • Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's in Information Technology, Cybersecurity or relevant field (Masters ideal but not mandatory) or significant work experience in these fields.
      • Proven ability to lead by example, with both hard cyber skills and strong leadership.
      • Collaborative and inclusive leadership style, considering all team members' thoughts.
      • Ability to work with diverse skill sets within the team and execute effectively.
      • Strong communication skills to articulate cyber security to a diverse range of stakeholders.
      • Ability to act as a delegate for the Chief Cyber Security Officer as required.
      • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude.

The protection of our systems and digital information is vital because of the many essential services NSW Government provides including health, emergency services, and transport. Furthermore, the exciting digital transformation being undertaken across NSW Government requires similarly enhanced cyber security capabilities.
