      The Opportunity

      Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director, Distribution and Logistics is a key member of the Leadership Team accountable for ensuring that Glen Dimplex Americas (GDAM) transportation, logistics and warehousing functions consistently meet business needs and customer expectations.

      The Director, Distribution and Logistics will oversee the performance and effectiveness of all inbound and outbound transportation activities and the carriers or partners providing those services.

      In this role you will:

      • Maintain relationships with and oversight of transportation partners through regular communications and formal performance reviews
      • Track active inbound and outbound shipments, negotiate rates, and manage quotes
      • Demonstrate awareness and control of transportation operations through appropriate measures including on-time delivery, lead times, cost performance, mode mix, and utilization across all freight modes (TL, LTL, parcel, air/sea/rail/land)
      • Understand and monitor the internal systems settings that manage and influence freight processes (such as routing guides and outbound transport times etc.)
      • Manage overall cost performance across all transportation modes through the optimization of routes, mode mix, and continual process improvement
      • Monitor market rates and trends in the global transportation environment to identify and communicate the risks and opportunities these factors present to GDAM operations
      • Develop and manage RFQ’s as required to support benchmarking and contract renewals
      • Ensure compliance with all applicable customs and regulatory requirements, international trade directives, tariffs, and guidelines
      • Proactively communicate with internal stakeholders to address issues, promote seamless business operations, and meet customer expectations

      The Director will ensure the safe, consistent, efficient, and cost-effective operations of all Glen Dimplex Americas corporate and 3PL-operated distribution centers.

      Specifically, you will:

      • Maintain relationships with and oversight of 3PL distribution partners through regular communications and performance reviews to ensure that 3PL managed sites are consistently meeting contractual obligations and the needs of the business
      • Maintain oversight of corporate distribution centers through regular communications and performance reviews to ensure that GDAM distribution operations are consistently meeting the needs of the business
      • Lead the safe and effective operation of distribution sites
      • Drive best practices, continuous improvement, and operational consistency across all locations to deliver reliable service at the lowest possible cost
      • Understand and monitor the internal systems settings that manage and influence distribution processes (such as goods receipt and pick/pack/ship buffers, storage types, picking strategies, UOM, item dimensions, warehouse configuration, put-away strategies and slotting parameters)
      • Manage reverse logistics
      • Demonstrate awareness and control of distribution operations through appropriate metrics and measures including overall cost performance, labour efficiency, shipping and quality performance, inventory accuracy, SLA attainment, and space utilization
      • Maintain the accuracy of all system warehousing transactions and ensure inventory integrity through robust cycle counting controls and annual inventories
      • Ensure that facilities and equipment are properly maintained, secured, 5S’ed, organized and always in a tour-ready state
      • Proactively communicate with internal stakeholders to address issues, promote seamless business operations, and meet customer expectations

      What You Need

      • Degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field
      • 5+ years of transportation and logistics experience
      • At least 5 years of experience leading, coaching and managing large, multi-site teams
      • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
      • A history of partnering with internal stakeholders in an open and collaborative manner
      • Experience managing and holding external partners accountable to contractual and performance commitments
      • Strong coaching and leadership skills with ability to motivate teams and drive an operational culture that reflects a sense of urgency
      • A willingness to get into the details to seek out issues and opportunities
      • Proven record of accomplishment in driving transportation and distribution performance improvements and cost savings
      • SAP experience would be considered an asset
