- Support Technical Drug Delivery Search and Evaluation efforts focused on potential licensing, merger and acquisition opportunities
- Develop timelines, recommendations, and proposals for senior management consideration, based on detailed technical review and unique insights and analyses.
- Build awareness of Halozyme with companies focused on approaches to ease treatment burden through improved and alternate drug delivery platforms, with a focus on devices.
- Through meeting attendance, scientific review, and peer discussions, identify and evaluate potential drug delivery acquisition opportunities broadly and with a focus on devices, consistent with Halozyme strategies and drive sustainable growth for the Company including managing and generating relationships with potential sources of opportunities.
- Provide input into effective deal structure optionality, risk mitigation and negotiation strategies and ensure alignment with Halozyme objectives and functional management.
- Drive the technical areas of any deal execution including participating in diligence, cross-functional internal review, and presenting the investment recommendation to leadership.
- Advanced degree in the life sciences (Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D., M.S.), with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience in pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry required (a combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Experience in the evaluation, development and implementation of novel drug delivery technology encompassing multiple therapeutic modalities (small molecules, proteins, nucleic acids, etc.) required and must have experience in technical aspects of at least one drug delivery modality.
- Experience being actively engaged in externally focused efforts to support investigating and/or licensing innovation in the life sciences, particularly in novel delivery methodologies.
- Working understanding of the drug discovery and development, regulatory, and commercialization process for evaluation of drug delivery opportunities; rigorous scientific knowledge applied to objectively evaluate potential business opportunities.
- Project management/leadership skills to lead multifunctional teams to evaluate target opportunities and produce high-quality analyses. Ability to drive projects to deliver timely results and follow through on a commitment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate technical concepts, business strategies and capabilities internally and externally, present individual and team recommendations clearly and concisely, and promote cross-functional communication.
- Proactive and engaging social and networking skills to contact a broad range of industry decision-makers to stay on top of emerging opportunities. Strong and existing networks within the drug delivery community.

How you will make an impact
As the Director, Drug Delivery Search and Evaluation you will, working with the VP, Drug Delivery Search and Evaluation, to identify and evaluate potential drug delivery platforms for licensing or acquisition by Halozyme. You will collaborate closely with Corporate Development, Business Development, Alliance Management, Drug Delivery, and CMC technical function leaders to ensure that technologies are consistent with the Company’s strategy and capabilities.
The ideal candidate has broad scientific and technical knowledge of a range of delivery technologies encompassing multiple therapeutic modalities. Experience supporting innovation in drug delivery is crucial, including participating in evaluation/diligence and contributing to licensing and partnership discussions. The successful candidate has a high affinity for collaboration. Compelling communication skills are essential to this role to best position Halozyme as the partner of choice for licensing, merger, and acquisition opportunities.

The most likely base pay range for this position is $164K - $225K per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual’s exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
