Patriot Rail Company is seeking motivated applicants to perform a variety of tasks at the direction of the VP that are involved with managing Track, Roadway, Facilities and other duties for Patriot Rail. The diversity of responsibility and actual tasks to be performed require a flexible mindset and cooperative team-oriented attitude to support the rapid growth of the Company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform Project Management including cost estimates, review of roadway plans to insure PRC Standards and Specifications are met.
· Prepare estimates of cost for work designed
· Draft License agreements for Legal Department review and approval.
· Coordinate crossing widening projects.
· Know and remain current with State DOT and Federal submittals regarding specifications.
· Develop relationships with key DOT, Local and Federal contacts throughout the PRC network.
· Secure DOT and governmental funding for engineering studies
· Generate the scope, schedule and budget parameters for projects.
· Manage projects with fees of up to several million dollars.
· Manage the execution of projects within the scope, schedule and budget parameters previously developed.
· Manage 3rd part entities in the performance of the project
· Report performance by generating maintenance of project reporting documents.
· Identify and resolve issues related to the performance of the project, including generation of scope of work, scheduling and developing and implementing QA/QC plans for projects.
· Maintain Utility Specifications and provide engineering assistance to PRC Real Estate Department for utility applications.
· Proficient in AutoCAD The successful applicant will also demonstrate a strong commitment to best industry safety practices and the application of federal/state regulatory requirements. He or she will promote Patriot Rail Company’s safety culture daily by practicing it personally and encouraging fellow employees to do the same.
· Build strong working relationships with internal customers, including Govt. Relations, Accounting and Commercial teams
· Other duties as assigned
Applicant should be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers, use of typical office productivity software (email, Word, Excel, Power Point, Windows, etc.), and show experience with a CAD software such as AutoCAD or Microstation.
POSITION LOCATION:
This position will be based in Jacksonville, FL, at the railroad main office
Applicants can expect on average up to 25% travel across the continental United States to 30+ railroad locations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Valid Driver’s License
· Ability to walk on uneven terrain, steep sides slopes, on bridge decks, alongside track
· Ability to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs
· Wear PPE (personal protective equipment) while visiting railroad sites such as hard hats, safety glasses, hi-visibility vests, safety-toed boots
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field from an accredited 4-year program, ideally in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
