      The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.

      About the Opportunity

      Reporting to the Senior Director, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, the Director contributes as part of the Interprofessional Practice and Learning leadership team to the learning and professional practice strategies and operational plans consistent with legislation, accountability frameworks, and the NSHA mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of the organization. The director provides leadership in the development and delivery of pre and post licensure education programs and continuing professional education; simulation programs and services; and curricular design, educational methodologies and related supports to meet the needs for bridging/re-entry and specialty nursing and interprofessional education and simulation for learners and employees. The Director promotes the development of an organizational culture that focuses on ongoing learning and effective, evidence-based practice to support clinical transformation and advancement of collaborative practice and learning to improve health outcomes. The Director contributes to the design and development of comprehensive professional practice and learning strategies to support the effective, efficient and sustainable delivery of services and programs. Working as a part of a team, the Director will have responsibility for advancement of distance learning strategies, library services and the assessment centre for re-entry and internationally educated nurses. The Director provides leadership for the Registered Nurses Professional Development Centre, QEII Simulation Program, and Provincial Health Library Services working with partners and stakeholders within NSHA, and at the provincial and national level.

      The Director provides leadership to advance excellence in quality, person centered care and practice through integration of a variety of programs and services. The Director is responsible to create the framework for profession specific and interprofessional practice and learning. The Director ensures programs and services integrate evidence informed practice(s) and ensure practices and processes support quality care and practice at the individual, team and system level. Working in partnership with senior leaders, managers and staff, the Director takes a leadership role in creating a culture of learning with a focus on continuing professional development, clinical practice, clinical leadership, and interprofessional collaboration. The Director ensures the design and delivery of learner centered continuing professional education, to develop and enhance staff skill and knowledge, and coach leaders to help create environments that embed learning in the practice setting. The Director oversees a provincial team that is well versed in professional and regulatory matters, learning and education theories and methods, program evaluation, strategies for knowledge translation, role optimization, and quality practice environments.

      About You

      We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

      • Master’s degree in health profession, health administration or equivalent experience and related Master's degree close to completion required.
      • Current licensure and in good standing with regulated health profession if applicable
      • College of Health Leaders certificate is an asset
      • Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ progressive leadership and management experience in health care in addition to having clinically related practice experience required
      • Experience in planning and delivering comprehensive professional practice and professional development programs within a complex, integrated service model provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders
      • Experience as a strategic leader within a complex organization, enabling change and leading transformational projects and providing strategic advice to senior management
      • Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy and optimize practice environments
      • Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks applicable to the practice of health professions
      • Experience in engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participative manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives an organization
      • Experience in initiating, leading and managing organizational change, and complex work
      • Excellent analytical, organizational and decision-making skills with ability to interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.
      • High level of competence in both written and verbal communication.
      • Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that nurture equity, diversity and inclusivity with a focus on intersectional values, analysis, and actions, clinical humility, and the responsible use of power and privilege.
      • Sound knowledge of information systems.
      • Excellence in financial planning and human resource management.

      Permanent Full-Time; 75 hours bi-weekly

      Compensation and Incentives

      $56.95 - $75.67 hourly
      $111,058 - $147,564 annually
