About our team
DC National Operations | Maritime Border Command & OSB | Jatf Osb Deputy Commander | JATF OSB Strategic Communication
The Joint Agency Task Force (JATF) Operation Sovereign Borders (OSB) is a multi-agency border security operation that was established in 2013 to deliver on the Australian Government's commitment to combat maritime people smuggling and protect the integrity of Australia's borders.
JATF OSB comprises sixteen agencies, working together to deliver the OSB mission: to deny an irregular maritime settlement pathway to Australia and prevent the avoidable loss of life at sea. The JATF includes representatives across operational and law enforcement agencies, intelligence, policy and foreign affairs. This fusion creates a unique culture of innovation, agility and high performance.
Fundamental to the success of the OSB mission are the three pillars of:
The JATF OSB Strategic Communications Section in JATF OSB Headquarters delivers the Australian Government’s counter people smuggling campaign. The campaign underpins efforts across three pillars of OSB and is focussed on ensuring that vulnerable people considering engaging the services of people-smugglers are aware of Australia’s strong border protection policies and the risks in undertaking such journeys. The campaign also promotes legal migration pathways, noting the only way to come to Australia is with a valid visa.
