Analyze and manage due diligence process on investment opportunities (business analysis, industry thesis, competitive landscape, business/pricing model, and financial modeling / deal structuring)
Gather and present market data to analyze trends and identify investment opportunities in the FinTech and financial services sectors.
Support portfolio companies in their financial planning, capital raising, commercial and growth strategies.
Build the Live Oak network of relationships and develop infrastructure to i) monitor potential opportunities , ii) track conversations, and iii) keep our executive team informed.
Monitor the financial performance of our investment portfolio for regulatory, accounting and business objectives .
Create financial models and powerpoint presentations to facilitate the team’s overall efforts.
10+ years experience preferably with knowledge of financial technology and finance
Evidence of strong leadership and business acumen with ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously mixing long term projects with the urgency of immediate demands
Deep interest in technology and how it interacts with financial institutions . Desire to develop a fintech expertise , rooted in an understanding of bank infrastructure and financial metrics
Strong communication skills – ability to represent the Live Oak story with third parties and to update internal stakeholders
Strong analytical skills – ability to bring structure to ambiguous or complex problems, ability to generate insights and develop relevant action plans
Strong quantitative skills with an ability to evaluate market opportunities using all available resources including financial models .
Team player – ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed organization
Curiosity, with excellent listening skills and ability to challenge current thinking
Ability to manage multiple priorities and a heavy workload
Organized – ability to track, monitor and maintain large sets of information from various sources
Excel and PowerPoint capabilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree is required in relevant area
Location: W i lmington , NC or located within a 4-hour driving distance to allow for monthly trips to Wilmington, NC

How This Role impacts Live Oak and its People
The Corporate Strategy & Development team drives innovation and strategic planning for Live Oak . The group is responsible for Live Oak’s Venture Capital business, Live Oak’s embedded banking business, a number of incubation projects, and the overall str ategic planning process for the Bank. This role will help drive outsized value for the Bank through the venture investment strategy.

This role will be a significant driver of the Ventures investments at Live Oak Bank. The team is responsib le for managing relationships with 10-15 current portfolio companie s and partici pating direct ly i n deal activity for all new investment opportunities. Live Oak Ventures has a succe ssful track record , with over 9x returns, and including recent exi ts in F inxac t and Pa yrailz .
How You’ll Do It
Required Experience
The base pay range for this position is $129,000.00 - $273,000.00 per year. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including location, travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
