      Essential Job Functions: 1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating, all in accordance with University policies and procedures.
      2. Designs and implements programs of outreach and research under the auspices of the Oceanographic Research Center.
      3. Works on and contributes to collaborative education/outreach activities for the MEEC.
      4. Furthers NSU’s public footprint, raising the Center’s profile and achieving preeminence.
      5. Analyzes research data to produce MEEC-relevant output.
      6. Creates various reports based upon data results.
      7. Presents data at conferences, scientific symposium, and professional society meetings
      8. Cultivates a strong MEEC social media presence.
      9. Formulates new MEEC outreach proposals and applies for extramural funding for ongoing, new, or renewal projects.
      10. Builds new revenue streams for the ongoing sustainability of the MEEC and its goals.
      11. Designs, assembles, and uses fishing and other gear for safe, non-lethal handling of marine organisms.
      12. Stewards current donors and seeks new relationships with potential funders.
      13. Oversees, trains, and advises graduate, undergraduate, and high school students in marine research and volunteer or educational activities, as assigned
      14. May serve as committee member, advisor, and/or mentor to graduate students.
      15. Attends college and departmental meetings and activities as a member of the Halmos College.
      16. Collaborates across disciplines and organizational structures to meet operational goals and strategic initiatives.
      17. Meets and manages operational and capital budgeting needs.
      18. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
      Marginal Job Functions:
      Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; database and data entry skills.
      2. Ability to utilize or learn to utilize software relevant to the outreach and research programs, new research methods and, work routines quickly.
      3. Ability to attain required certification for applicable research program or project.
      4. Reading and comprehending reports and other scientific literature.
      5. Demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding.
      Job Requirements:
      Required Certifications/Licensures:
      Required Education: Master's Degree
      Major (if required):
      Required Experience: 1. Five (5) years of experience working in an NGO or scientific research environment including two (2) years' experience supervising personnel and managing a budget.
      2. Demonstrated outreach and public engagement experience.
      Preferred Qualifications: 1. Doctoral Degree and two (2) years of experience working in an NGO or scientific research environment including two (2) years' experience supervising personnel and managing a budget.
      2. Certified Small Boat Operator desirable but not required.
