      What’s unique about this role?

      The Director of Modern Data Solutions plays an essential role guiding internal teams and clients with best practices on handling modern data types. The rapid evolution of workspace collaboration tools and cloud-based documents has exponentially expanded the data sources required for eDiscovery collection, processing, review, and production. Working closely with clients, sales and delivery teams, this role ensures the client’s goals for a matter are met when modern data types are involved across the end to end matter lifecycle. Tapping into their extensive expertise on modern data types and trends, the Director of Modern Data Solutions serves as a guide and coach to internal teams as they further their knowledge of emerging data types and new workflows. Leveraging both LH and third party technologies, this role also collaborates with product managers (PdM) to define and optimize the end-to-end workflow, service capabilities, technologies for scalable solutions for LH clients.

      What will this person do?

      • Serves as the cross functional leader to develop new or expand existing workflows for handling modern data types. Partner with technical SMEs, product and delivery teams to define workflows incorporating industry best practices and broad range of clients needs resulting in a standardized, efficient and flexible solution set to offer clients
      • Offers expertise and guidance to clients on handling particularly complex or new modern data needs. Staying on top of trends with Microsoft 365, Google/Gvault, Slack and mobile data types and engaging product teams at OEMs, this role will initiate and lead innovation efforts in conjunction with the product teams to develop the modern data solutions roadmap across all LH environments. Working closely with the Forensics team, the role will research and recommend 3rd party tools to leverage for complex collection and processing needs.
      • Assesses workflow/ support model impacts to influence design of the technology; assess viability and potential risks to the solution. Continuously monitors and evaluates effectiveness of standard offerings to identify improvement opportunities.
      • Leads a cross functional team of experts on the Data Workflow Council to drive decisions on workflows, treatment of data across cross functional teams and standardize governance for handling different data types. Partners with forensics & operational teams to rapidly respond to new, unfamiliar data to determine best workflow to employ. Guides internal teams on best practices and provide documentation on standard handling workflows.
      • Drives communication and education of relevant teams on new data type solutions and corresponding workflows across Spectra, RelOne and full services - encompassing the full LH platform
      • Partnering with enablement teams, drives communication and education of relevant teams on new solutions and corresponding workflows
      • Perform other related duties as assigned.

      • Bachelor’s degree (Masters or JD a plus)
      • 10+ years of e-discovery experience, with 5+ years of e-discovery project management, operations or consulting experience
      • Deep understanding of e-discovery best practices and of current and emerging technologies including: computer forensics, data collection,modern data/messaging platform administration (M365, Teams, Slack, Google), third-party tools for data collection, exporting and/or processing (Cellebrite, MessageCrawler, Encase, Onna, Logikull), litigation support, Nuix, Relativity.
      • Role should have technical depth equivalent to a product manager. Primary skill needed is deep understanding of EDRM data uses, formats, fields and potential downstream nuances. Important to understand how to interact with the product teams and roles – the ideal candidate would have product experience but not necessary.
      • Experience in client facing roles explaining complex, technical solutions and downstream impacts
      • Ability to interpret complex technical requirements
      • Experience in product management a plus
      • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
      • Deep understanding of e-discovery best practices and of current and emerging technologies including: computer forensics, data collection, modern data/messaging platform administration (M365, Teams, Slack, Google), third-party tools for data collection, exporting and/or processing (Cellebrite, MessageCrawler, Encase, Onna, Logikcull), litigation support, Nuix, Relativity.

      • Ability to interpret complex technical requirements
      • Ability to foster positive and professional relationships at all levels internally and externally and to leverage those relationships to effectively drive projects to completion
      • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standards exist
      • Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to deal with difficult situations and manage conflicts to successful resolution
      • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask
      • Navigate a global, matrix-organization and ability to maintain positive, authentic relationships

      Work Environment and Physical Demands

      • Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table
      • Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting
      • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)

The salary range for this position may be tailored to be lower or higher in different talent markets.

      This role will be eligible to participate in an annual bonus or incentive program.
