      Director of Academics Location: School Board Office Reports To: Superintendent FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Range: Per WBR Salary Schedule Terms of Employment: 12 Months SUPERVISES:Principals, College & Career Academy Supervisor, Standards, Assessment & Accountability Supervisor, Early Childhood Supervisor and an Administrative Assistant ESSENTIAL DUTIES/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborates with the Director of Student Services, the Director of HR & Staff Support, and the Director of Finance to support the Superintendent in the implementation of the district strategic plan. Evaluates and supports school leadership and designated district staff on a regular and on-going basis. Ensures district and school-wide goals are set, progress monitored, and result in increased student achievement. Provides leadership for the selection and continual assessment of K - 12 curriculum and instructional programs. Encourages teaching excellence, professional growth, and program improvement. Identifies objectives for curriculum and instruction that are consistent with stated goals of the School Board and Superintendent. Recommends to the Superintendent specific policies, procedures, plans, and programs for attaining instructional objectives. Identifies critical and emerging issues of curriculum and instruction and recommends courses of action. Develops and implements planned programs for dissemination of information related to curriculum, instruction and other related programs to the instructional staff, the board and the general public. Assesses the classroom teaching and learning process regularly and offers research-based recommendations for improvement. Oversees and directs district professional development initiatives and opportunities. Supports school leaders in the development of instructional leadership teams and professional learning communities resulting in increased student achievement. Assists in the preparation and administration of the budget for academic programs within the district. Assists the Superintendent in the assignment of staff. Attends all board meetings and committee meetings. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Educational Leader Certification or equivalent. Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Five years of successful administrative experience. Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties. Adheres to all West Baton Rouge Parish School Board’s Policies. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly. NOTE: This job description is subject to change at any time.
