      Position Title: Director – Aiken County Career and Technical Center

      Department: Division of Instruction

      Reports To: Executive Director of Career and Technical Education

      FLSA Status: Exempt

      SUMMARY:

      The Director of the Aiken County Career and Technology Center (ACCTC) is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Career Center. This position oversees all activities related to programming, staff supervision and evaluation, and resource allocation to ensure effective and equitable delivery of high-quality career and technical education programming (CTE) for Aiken County students. The Director reports directly to the Executive Director of Career and Technical Education for Aiken County Public Schools.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Provide direct leadership and oversight of all programs and instructional offerings at ACCTC.
      • Supervise and support faculty, staff, and support personnel to ensure instructional excellence and positive learning environments.
      • Manage daily operations, including scheduling, facilities, and logistics to support program efficiency.
      • Engage in program development and evaluation.
      • Ensure that all CTE programs are aligned with current workforce demands, state standards, and credentialing requirements.
      • Collaborate with district leadership to implement new programs and phase out outdated or underperforming ones based on data and industry trends.
      • Oversee the integration of academic, technical, and employability skills across all program areas.
      • Manage resources and local budget to ensure programming is supported.
      • Manage the Center’s resources, including facilities, equipment, materials, and technology to support high-quality instruction.
      • Monitor and assist with budget development and expenditures in collaboration with the Executive Director of CTE.
      • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements, including grant management (e.g., Perkins funds).
      • Provide high quality Staff Development.
      • Recruit, hire, and retain qualified CTE instructors and support staff.
      • Provide leadership for professional development, mentoring, and evaluation of staff.
      • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
      • Focus on stakeholder and community engagement.
      • Build and maintain partnerships with business, industry, and post-secondary institutions to support work-based learning opportunities, dual credit, and student transition to careers or college.
      • Represent the Center in community outreach, career fairs, and public events.
      • Communicate program success and impact to families, stakeholders, and the broader community.

      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

      Supervises and evaluates the Aiken County Career and Technical Center staff.

      LANGUAGE SKILLS:

      Ability to read and write at least the high school level. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and/or type routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of district personnel or organizations.

      MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

      Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

      REASONING ABILITY:

      Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to quickly assess student, departmental and school needs and provide timely feedback. Ability to analyze varied functions, processes and tasks for the preparation of varied records and reports.

      OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

      Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

      Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, district employees and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently, with limited supervision and develop effective working relationships with students, and the school community. Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.

      The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as boxes of materials. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as furniture or boxes of materials.

      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen and/or reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. Duties of the job may require frequent use of a computer monitor and related equipment.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT:

      Office environment with limited exposure to environmental conditions. The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day.

      Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities for events or meetings.

      Travel may be required for site visits, professional development, and industry engagement.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      A master’s degree required; a minimum of five years of experience in teaching and administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. CTE educator certification is preferred but not required.

      Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

      CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

      Must hold a valid South Carolina certificate in one of the following areas:

      • Secondary Principal (Tier I or Tier II)
      • Secondary Supervisor

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

      8 Hours/260 days

      Level 129 Pay Scale

      The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full-time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.

      EVALUATION:

      Performance of this job evaluated annually according to Board Policy.
