      POSITION: Director of Athletics EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt NUMBER OF DAYS: According to district approved calendar DEPARTMENT: Athletics REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Athletics SUPERVISES: As Assigned EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Valid Texas teaching certificate Master’s Degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: 4 years of successful Head Coaching/Athletic Administration experience in Texas at the 5A or 6A level. Understanding of the NCAA recruiting process for student/athletes. POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE Assist the Executive Director of Athletics with the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Responsible for assisting in the development of athletic schedules and game administration of the MJHAL (Midessa Junior High Athletic League). 2. Assist in the administration and organization of and organize junior high and high school track meets and other events as needed. 3. Assist in the handling of Midland ISD athletic issues. 4. Responsible for on campus visits to high school and junior high athletic practices. 5. Assist with coaches’ evaluations. 6. Assist with the oversight of Title IX compliance and safety compliance. 7. Administrate the implementation and maintenance of RankOne software. 8. Serve as Game/Athletic Administrator at Astound Stadium for Varsity Football and other athletic events as deemed necessary by the Executive Director of Athletics. 9. Work with Executive Director of Athletics to formulate budget and bids for athletic equipment. 10. Assist with social media, Twitter account, and websites for the Athletic Department. 11. Assist the Executive Director of Athletics in coordination of support personnel for all athletic contests, including game management, ticket sales, security, athletic trainer, and emergency personnel. 12. Make recommendations to the Executive Director of Athletics in regards to personnel, facility improvement and game administration. 13. Assist with the assignment of game workers. 14. Assist with the UIL Portal. 15. Assist with reconciliation of expense and trip requests. 16. Assist in publishing and checking of all athletic schedules 7th – 12th grade. 17. Assist with the oversight of insurance through the High School Trainers. 18. Oversee the maintenance and update of coaches records for all state-mandated UIL certifications (such as CCP, CPR, and AED). 19. Coordinate with MISD Transportation department to organize certification classes and trainings for coaching staff. 20. Attend and supervise athletic events as required by the Executive Director of Athletics. 21. Organize press box for scouts, press, and film crews. 22. Ensure that all teams and bands have exited the Astound Broadband Stadium after Varsity football games. 23. Assist the Executive Director of Athletics on work orders and maintenance of facilities. 24. Other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements Special Knowledge/Skills: 1. Knowledge of University Interscholastic League rules and regulations 2. Knowledge of coaching techniques 3. Ability to work well with a diverse population PHYSICAL DEMANDS Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors : 1. Maintain emotional control under stress 2. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing 3. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment 4. District wide and statewide travel 5. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. Occasionally required to travel to facilities within the district.
