- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Communications or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Marketing preferred
- A minimum of eight years experience in related field
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PageMaker
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Serve as liaison officer between the District and news media, print and non-print, and supervise the production and distribution of all news releases.
- Coordinate press conferences for news events and board meetings.
- Oversee inclement weather communication as needed.
- Serve as a member of the Superintendent’s cabinet assisting with critical district-related decisions.
- Design and write advertisements and develop and distribute the annual District Calendar/Handbook and the annual District report to the public.
- Develop and implement a strategic communications plan that sets clear goals and defines timelines and strategies to achieve them, making highest use of staff talents, communications tool and the department’s overall capacity.
- Maintain a clear focus and creative approach to achieve mission-critical initiatives, while also managing and prioritizing the daily demands upon the office; connect individual tasks or small opportunities to larger communications framework and mission.
- Develop relationships with other district leaders, offices and schools to ensure that communications strategies and support are integrated into planning and implementation of all major initiatives.
- Provide training and counsel to district and school leaders and the School Board in the areas of media relations and effective communication strategies.
- Manage all internal and external communications, including website content, publications, multimedia presentations, news releases, speeches and written policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: Range 15 - Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($337.79/day - $475.02/day depending on relevant experience)
Length of Contract: 244 contract days
FLSA Status: Exempt
Personnel Status: Classified
