      Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center is a pioneering provider of care, education and hope for children with some of the most challenging medical complexities any person can face. Featuring the largest long term residential medical center of its kind in the United States.

      Under the supervision of the Vice President of Communications and Grants, the Director of Communications will support strategic communications and marketing initiatives and work on a variety of outreach and communications projects that will advance the mission of Elizabeth Seton Children’s Foundation (ESCF), Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center (ESCC), Elizabeth Seton Children’s School (ESCS) and Elizabeth Seton Children’s Rehabilitation Center (ESCRC). The Director of Communications will help to ensure that the Elizabeth Seton Children’s family of organizations is viewed as an excellent and innovative provider of care, education and hope for children and young adults who live with some of the most challenging medical conditions on earth. The Director of Communications will also assist in the grants management process to secure general and programmatic funding for the organization and its Capital Campaign.

      Responsibilities will include:

      Communications & Marketing

      • Sources stories of success and good news throughout Elizabeth Seton Children’s and spearheads the development of pieces for digital, social and print media, as well as news media, which may include conducting interviews, writing articles, social media posts, press releases/media alerts, obtaining photo/video and tracking engagement to ensure a strong, engaging and consistent external presence
      • Leads the production of key messaging pieces from concept to publication including the organization’s print newsletter, Annual Report, Capital Campaign materials and other collateral
      • Supports major marketing efforts such as digital marketing, website redesign, etc.
      • Champions engaging, internal employee communications including, but not limited to: CEO updates that provide accurate, up-to-date information to employees, C/VP-level letters announcing organization-wide developments and successes and print/digital notices
      • Provides detail-oriented editing and review of grant proposals, as well as oversight of the grants management process, as needed, and reports and writes a weekly grant update report for the team
      • Liaises with the organization’s webmaster and both reviews and drafts copy to ensure its content, look and feel are consistently updated
      • Independently coordinates logistics, including consents/permissions, for photo and video shoots
      • Collaborates directly with the organization’s PR firm, graphic designers, printers, photographers and videographers, as well as the organization’s Innovative Media Developer, to advance projects
      • Participates in vital, organization-wide initiatives including strategic planning and various high-level department meetings and committees
      • Ensures the Elizabeth Seton Children’s brand is consistently represented accurately by developing PowerPoints, Canva presentations and other branded pieces for various departments for internal and external audiences
      • Organizes and calendarizes individual and team content and workflow using discerning judgement and nimbleness

      Fundraising/Advancement

      • Helps develop on-trend appeals for print and digital mediums to support fundraising goals, as well as supporter communications, like thank yous, as needed
      • Monitors the organization’s Constant Contact database to ensure consistency and accuracy for targeted communications
      • Supports fundraising efforts including the Advisory Committee and Young Professionals
      • Serves an ambassador for Elizabeth Seton Children’s at on and off-site events, including fundraisers, and oversees photo/video for these events

      Talent Management

      • Supports Talent Management’s staff recruitment efforts and employee engagement by crafting poignant testimonials, content and print/digital materials for internal/external use (ads, flyers, etc.)
      • Supervises the development of internal communications for the employee portal

      Qualifications

      Education

      • Bachelor’s Degree - Extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree

      Experience

      • Minimum of five to seven years of professional communications experience, preferably in health care and/or the non-profit sector and a track record of success
      • Writing samples/portfolio required

      Skills required:

      • Highly motivated self-starter who is able to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in varied team settings and with many constituent groups including staff, Board Members, donors, program participants and other supporters
      • Excellent writing talents with a flexibility to adapt to the voice and style of the organization and different audiences
      • Extremely detail-oriented with superb editing (AP Style) and proofreading abilities
      • Outstanding organizational and project management skills to plan projects from concept to completion
      • Excels at time management, multitasking, self-discipline and meeting deadlines
      • Very strong verbal communication and presentation skills
      • Great capacity to build internal and external relationships through interpersonal communication skills
      • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe Acrobat Pro
      • Well-versed in a variety of social media platforms with the ability to track ROI
      • Experience using WordPress
      • Experience with Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign
      • Possesses strong research skills related to communications, PR, etc.
      • Committed to life-long learning and the implementation of results-driven best practices
      • Proactively approaches problem solving and possesses a solutions-oriented mindset
      • Enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
      • Possesses flexibility in work hours to meet the needs of the Communications team and the organization at large
      • Photogrraphy skills strongly preferred

      Salary Range:

      $95,000.00/Yr. to $115,000.00/Yr.
