      Chadwick School seeks a dynamic and passionate Director of Community Engagement to lead and coordinate its community service and service learning programs. This role is pivotal in fostering social responsibility and providing students with meaningful service opportunities that align with Chadwick's mission to develop "global citizens with self-knowledge, strong character, and the ability to lead." The Director will play a central role in organizing K-12 community engagement, mentoring students in meaningful service learning projects, and promoting social responsibility.

      Responsibilities:

      • Program Strategy: Developing a vision for community engagement at Chadwick and implementing a plan and curriculum for community service initiatives, addressing the needs of both local and global communities. Serve as the faculty advisor and mentor to the Upper School and Middle School Community Service Advisory Board (CSAB).
      • Service Learning Program Coordination: Manage student participation in the weekly community service program (fall, winter, and spring). Responsibilities include scheduling and supervising volunteer assignments and managing assigned chaperones and drivers (employees and parents).
      • Experiential Education Collaboration: Planning and implementing projects with the other Directors of Experiential Education at Chadwick (Global Education, Outdoor Education, Ocean Institute).
      • School-wide Initiatives: Organize and manage school-wide community service projects, ensuring all students have opportunities to engage in meaningful service.
      • Community Partnerships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, non-profits, and community partners. Identify service opportunities that meet their needs and align with Chadwick's program and mission.
      • Event Planning & Communication: Manage the logistics, budgets, and communication strategies for promoting and celebrating community service opportunities within the school community.
      • Teaching/Administrative Balance: This position is equivalent to three blocks of classroom teaching or equivalent administrative responsibilities and is designed to be combined with one block of classroom teaching or the equivalent in administrative responsibilities.
      • Demonstrate the ability to proactively reflect on and participate in discussions around identity, race, and issues of social justice
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Education, experience and skill requirements


      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
      • Demonstrated commitment to the principles outlined in Chadwick’s Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and its Core Values.
      • At least four years of relevant professional experience, preferably in an educational setting.
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
      • Knowledge of local community organizations and resources.
      • Ability to work evenings and weekends for special events and projects.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and internet browsers. Experience with or willingness to learn Veracross LMS is required.
      • Proven ability to inspire and collaborate effectively with diverse groups of students, parents, employees, and other stakeholders.

      Compensation:

      Anticipated base compensation is $110,000 – 125,000 based on experience. The position will tentatively begin August 18, 2025.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

      • Required to lift and carry up to a maximum of 25 lbs., in a correct manner consistent with the appropriate training provided by the School.
      • Occasionally required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
      • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
      • May use telephone, computer, copier, and other office equipment in the course of a day.
      • Required to sit while operating word processing equipment for approximately 6-8 hours daily, repetitive motion for typing and other keystroke needs.
