      What We’re Looking For

      The Director of Data Governance & Chief Data Officer serves within Baylor ITS and reports to the Assistant Vice President for Information Systems and Services. This position is responsible for helping campus partners to identify, plan, and implement management and strategic use of data to enable institutional decisions and value.

      The successful candidate will have the following:

      • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, Master’s degree and five years of experience preferred
      • Demonstrated record of strategic. problem-solving, and analytical skills
      • Ability to translate business needs and work with technical and functional staff involving selection, planning, implementation, and configuration of existing and new campus IT systems.
      • Passion for treating data as an asset with a lifecycle and governance needs.

      Flexible Hybrid work will be considered. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

      What You Will Do

      Position summary: The Director of Data Governance & Chief Data Officer is the senior executive who bears responsibility on behalf of the organization to foster value by means of the organization’s data assets and external data ecosystem. The associated tasks include:

      • Establishing data and analytics governance including data lifecycle
      • Envisioning data-enabled strategies
      • Advising campus partners and enabling data infrastructure for campus partners
      • Developing and maintain university information policy

      Primary Responsibilities

      • Have responsibility and accountability for facilitating collaboration with campus partners to realize the value of university information assets, and of the analytics used to render insights for decision making and organizational insight
      • Works with campus partners to establish the strategy for managing data. Develop methods to ensure consistent application and use of analytics. Establish the governance of data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications and automated decision making.
      • Lead the collaborative data and analytics practices, and creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of Baylor’s data and analytics strategy in collaboration with the CBO, Vice Provost for Institutional Research and Professional Education, and the CIO. Document an enterprise operating model that is consistent with the institution capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.
      • Expand the organization’s research and analytics offerings, especially in emerging analytical approaches, skills, and technologies, focusing them on digital business innovation.
      • Foster the creation of a data-driven culture.
