ReDiscover is looking for a Director of Development & Communications to add to our Development Team !

ReDiscover has been known for over 50 years as a non-profit community mental health center in southeastern Jackson County, Missouri with a mission of delivering efficient and cost-effective treatment for the people we serve. Our diverse team of over 700 employees is “Passionate About People” as we support our community, specifically those whose lives have been affected by a mental illness or substance use.

WHAT WE DO

ReDiscover's Communications Department works to highlight the agency's mission to the community. The team incorporates many key functions, including hosting and participating in community events, grant management, and building and maintaining community relationships to help ReDiscover grow in its development efforts.

At ReDiscover, while every day is different, a typical day may include the following roles and responsibilities:

• Creating and executing a strategic fundraising, communications, and business marketing plan.
• Coordinating the development and communications needs with clinicians and leadership by meeting with programs regularly.
• Advising the executive team on internal communications, media relations, opportunities and barriers.
• Providing oversight of fundraising and grant development by identifying, researching, and clarifying opportunities with leadership and outside grant contractor.
• Guiding the organization on issues of actual or perceived conflict of interest, confidentiality, cultural awareness and ethics in proposal writing and grant implementation.
• Leading and attending the organization’s community and public events, ensuring the capture of related photos, videos, and content.
• Overseeing major fundraising events including promotional support (writing copy and providing design input for invitations, advertisements, signage, etc.) and on-site support (set-up, registration, greeting, A/V support, clean-up, etc.).
• Leading and supervising the development team to effectively perform external and internal communications and marketing, including maintenance of website content.
• Managing ReDiscover’s online reputation by monitoring and responding to online reviews and feedback.
• Monitoring industry news and media mentions, developing relationships with media and other influencers, craft story ideas, and pitch story ideas to the media.

We are focused on your development and will spend time helping you continue to grow as a Director of Development & Communications. However, here are some that you will need prior to starting with ReDiscover:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field or equivalent discipline from an accredited university, master’s degree preferred.
• At least five (5) years relevant experience in development and communications; experience in non-profit and/or healthcare preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience managing a team.
• Record of successfully obtaining large grants and improved donor development.
• Excellent written and verbal communicator, experienced in everything from writing articles, press releases, and public speaking.
• Strategic thinker who can create and execute strategic communication plans.
• Proficiency in social media and online platforms.
